大伦敦 · 整套出租单元 · 1室0床1.0卫 · 可住2人 · Period flat in leafy London N5
A comfortable 52sqm 1-bed flat on tree-lined Highbury New Park, London N5. Embrace the character of high ornate ceilings, arched sash-windows with shutters, and tranquil garden views. Though centrally located, it provides a rural atmosphere. Excellent transport via Victoria Line, Overground, or bus makes central London effortlessly reachable. Your ideal London stay starts here! The flat is situated on the upper ground floor of a Victorian detached house, originally built around 1861. A 10-step staircase leads to the main front door, opening onto a meticulously maintained communal hall. The entrance to the flat is the first door on your left. Upon entering, you are immediately greeted by a stunning view of the lush garden, framed by a tall, arched sash window. The welcoming kitchen-diner area features a large, oval marble table, and a custom kitchen equipped with towering units, an oven, toaster, fridge/freezer, induction hob, washing machine, and a wooden countertop. To the left, a tall arched opening invites you into the sitting room, where a working Carrara marble fireplace and another arched sash window offer picturesque views of the well-tended garden. The sitting room is furnished with a large sofa and a bookshelf unit that cleverly conceals a flat-screen TV behind a sliding panel. A vintage desk-bookcase by the window serves as a peaceful spot for remote work or casual laptop browsing. Located to the left of the kitchen, a door opens to a bedroom complete with an ensuite bathroom that includes a bathtub. The bedroom features a recently installed wardrobe and a double bed with under-bed storage. Another arched sash window in the bedroom, and a stained-glass arched sash window in the bathroom, further highlight the flat's charming aesthetic. Access to the garden is obtained by exiting the main front door, turning right off the steps, and unlocking a red garden door with a provided passcode. The surrounding gardens are peaceful, quiet, immaculately maintained, and offer a great deal of privacy, thanks to the maturity of the neighbouring gardens.
This is a beautiful apartment within a lovely house with very large windows that look out onto the garden. It was hard to believe I was actually in London sometimes. I felt so at home and I found it hard to leave. I recommend this place without reservation. Massimo is a thoughtful and kind host. Thank you.
Massimo was a great host and the house and neighbourhood are beautiful! Would recommend to everyone
Massimo was perfect for what we wanted. Beautiful windows and a lovley fireplace which made us feel at home. He was so easy to communicate with and gave amazing instructions on how to get access and also once in the flat. Would definitely recommend.
Beautiful, clean apartment with plenty of space. Massimo was a responsive host and kindly allowed for a late check out. The location was in a peaceful, green setting which we found very convenient for exploring East London.
Highbury New Park is perfectly positioned for the best of Highbury, Islington and neighbouring Stoke Newington.
The much-admired shops and restaurants of Highbury Barn are close by, such as Godfrey’s butchers, Bourne’s fishmongers, Da Mario deli, Thai restaurant Farang and the original branch of La Fromagerie.
There are further delights to be found at Newington Green, including bakeries such as Jolene, a greengrocer, an Italian deli, a florist and a health-food shop, as well as numerous restaurants including the popular Primeur, Westerns Laundry, and Perilla.
The green open spaces of Clissold Park, Finsbury Park and Highbury Fields – which has tennis courts, a playground and a swimming pool – are also within easy walking distance.
The nearest station is Canonbury for London Overground services towards Shoreditch High Street and Stratford (Jubilee Line and Central Line, and DLR). There are also very good bus routes and a fast train into the City from nearby Highbury and Islington station.
SOME HISTORY OF THE AREA
Highbury New Park was laid out in the 1850's as a new fashionable residential
development.
The wide gently curving road is lined with grand detached and semi-detached houses, originally for large middle class families, elaborately decorated in order to attract the wealthier clientele.
The houses were planned on a north-south axis and upon a wide ‘boulevard’, cutting through an enchanting arcade of 200 now-mature London plane trees. The immediate area is famous for its literary connections and was once home to the likes of Evelyn Waugh and George Orwell (the latter penned chapters of 1984 in The Canonbury Tavern).
