A bright and spacious, comfortable home, Casa Colina has amazing views of the Valley, Mountains & Sea. Situated in the quaint village of Válor a traditional Alpujarran pueblo (15 minute drive - Ugijar & 25 minutes from Cádiar). Especially recommended for hikers, and people who do not mind a short uphill walk to the alto barrio. Located near the centre of the village, close to the pharmacy, shops, bank and bars. The local swimming pool is also just a short walk away (open July & August) Located on two floors, The spacious living / dining room with views across the valley, is the central hub of the house, with all rooms opening off from it. It is heated by a log burning stove in winter. The kitchen is fully equipped with Electric Hob, kettle, coffee pot, Oven, Dishwasher and large Fridge Freezer. So you can prepare anything from a quick snack to a full 3 course dinner. It has two bedrooms, one with en-suite bathroom (plus washing machine). This has a large single bed, or a cosy double plus a standard single bed. Great for the kids or friends. It includes a DVD player and screen. The smaller double bedroom is a flexible space, it has a double bed, made up of 2 singles. It can be used either way. Just let me know what configuration you require. There are stairs that lead up to the roof top terrace, with views across the mountains and valley. You can also see the sea on a clear day. There is also a solar powered shower with hot and cold water on the terrace, if you would like to refresh yourself after a hard afternoon of relaxing and sunbathing. Or just to take a cool shower under the moon and stars . We are situated on the famous GR7 (E4) walking route, that starts in Tarifa and goes all the way to Greece. If that sounds too much like hard work there are plenty of smaller walking tracks/ senderos. in the area. The house being located in the Alto barrio of the village means you have a head start for the trail right out side the front door. The local swimming pool and bar is a short walk down the hill and is open every day in July and August. There is also a great public pool near Yegen which has a grassed area for sunbathing an in a perfect location to cool off after hikes in the area. There is an additional cost for this pool ( in 2023 it was only 2 Euros per entrance) Please note this is a public pool and it will be shared with people from all over the Alpujarras. If you visit us in September (12th- 15th) we have our annual fiesta, where you will witness historical events of the Moors and Christians, plus parades, local music, food, drinks and the best fireworks outside of Sydney harbour (well almost anyway!)
