Relax in this calm, comfortable gîte in the centre of a village in the Cognac region. Great for cycling, walking, running and generally touring the area and also for visiting the local distilleries. Set on a 20 acre site you have one of two cottages in the courtyard of our home. You can explore the surroundings which have plenty of birds and wildlife close by. We are situated only 8km from Barbezieux, which has boulangeries, restaurants, shops, a cinema, a Chateau and supermarkets. Beautifully restored gite for 2 people (approx 50 sq Metres) with private entrance and off-road parking. The open-plan ground floor consists of lounge/ dining area and fitted kitchen with induction hob, fan oven, fridge-freezer and Tassimo coffee machine. The stairs lead to a double bedroom with a large double bed (mattress 200x160cm) with oak floors and modern en-suite shower room.

Anne and Paul were lovely hosts. It was wonderful to have some bread, cheese muffins, water and even a bottle of wine in the kitchen when we arrived. Both were very responsive and helpful. We were missing a few items for the bathroom and they immediately came over with these. The accommodation is a newly renovated stable and was very beautiful and tastefully decorated. The location is very peaceful and its a great place to cycle and do some cognac and pineau tasting. I can highly recommend Anne and Paul's place and we will definitely be back again soon.
What a beautiful place, We could happily move in! The accommodation is pristine, Paul and Anne have put a great deal of thought into its creation. Lovely quiet countryside of vineyards and sunflowers. We shall return.
We had such a great time staying at Anne and Paul's! The accommodation is beautiful and very clean and well equipped. Hosts were lovely and proactive about local recommendations. We were looking for a quiet area, which is great for casual cycling, and this was absolutely the right choice for us. We will definitely come back when we are in this area again and will recommend it to our family and friends!

At the bottom of the driveway is the centre of Challignac which is a small village surrounded by vineyards.
Challignac is just 10 minutes drive from Barbezieux which has boulangeries, restaurants, shops, a cinema, a Chateau and supermarkets.
Just around the corner from the property is the Mairie where a Pizza van visits on Friday nights. There is also a bread vending machine about 2km away in the next village, which is Berneuil.

30 minutes from Cognac, Angouleme (which has a TGV link to Paris). and Auberterre-sur-Dronne, one of France's most beautiful villages.
Challignac is 1 hour from Bordeaux and about 8 minutes from the N10 motorway.
Bordeaux operates a park-and-ride scheme where the tram takes you from one of the the car parks to the city centre.
The coast is just over an hour away by car.
