There is rarely traffic heading up to Arnold. Just 2.25 hours from Walnut Creek, 2.75 hours from SF, and 3 hours from Marin.* Once on Highway 4, the drive is beautiful. Our cabin is located in the Lake Mont Pines subdivision of Arnold, tucked in between Tahoe and Yosemite. This is truly the best spot in Arnold (and the Sierras in general) for a home base. The property is a gentle downslope lot, which makes the entire lot very usable. Bring a football to throw in the yard, relax in the hammock, or enjoy s'mores or grilling on the deck. Many cabins in the area don't have usable yards, so ours is special! There are only 2 steps to entry, making our cabin more accessible to those with limited mobility or little ones. Once inside, there are no barriers to access the open-concept common areas, two bedrooms and a full bathroom if stairs are limiting for you or a loved one. Access the loft (3rd bedroom) by 12 steeper stairs with a handrail. Little ones should be monitored when going up/down the stairs (bring a baby gate if you need to). Once upstairs, it's a wonderland for kids & teens with foosball, games, books, TV lounge, and enough beds to sleep four. Guests are welcome to enjoy the private Tanner Lake, only available to Lake Mont Pines residents. 8 lake tags and 2 parking passes are included with your stay. *Note- there is a $50 fee for each lost lake tag and $100 fee for each lost parking pass Lake amenities such as snack bar, free equipment rentals, and daily activities are only available from Father's Day weekend until Labor day weekend. However, the lake, beach, playground, volleyball and basketball courts are available year round Please follow HOA rules while at the lake. + Lake tags must be present while at the lake. + All vehicles must display a parking pass + No glass + No pets + No music A few tips for a speedy reservation process: + Download the Airbnb mobile app and turn on text notifications from host + Check messages to answer any questions that may arise + Be Airbnb verified + Have a completed guest profile with a selfie and a bit of info about you + Ensure your complete last name will display (not an initial) once your reservation is confirmed + Tell me a bit about your trip and who will be coming along + We are always looking for guests who will treat our family cabin kindly so assurances are appreciated :) * Be sure to leave before or after Bay Area rush hour traffic.
We had a wonderful time at Jen’s lakeside house. It’s in a very quiet and peaceful neighborhood, the house is very clean and spacious, and the view of the lake is incredible (the pictures don’t do it justice). And Jen was very fast to respond and was quite attentive. Would definitely come here again!
Beautiful location, lovely cabin. Had everything we needed! We really enjoyed our stay here and would recommend to anyone wanting to visit Arnold or Murphy's.
Beautiful cabin, perfect for serene moments with a cup of your choice in the morning paired with an outstanding view of the lake. This is such a gorgeous getaway, and Jen was the best host! The cabin itself was cozy and well decorated. I hope to come back one day!
We loved our stay at Jen's cabin. It was in walking distance to the lake and our 6 year loved fishing at the dam. House was very comfortable and our son loved having dance parties upstairs and 3 bean bags to himself! :) Will definitely book again!
I spent spring break of 2024 at Jen’s house with my two daughters and two of their friend. It was glorious! We really enjoyed the cabin and the kids had a blast sharing the lift space which is perfectly set up for kids! The view of the lake was perfect with my morning coffee. The lake and beautiful and even thought we didn’t get to swim this time we will definitely come back to enjoy it more. The house is clean and free of clutter, had all the essentials and I particularly enjoyed the bed and the nice linens. Beautiful property! Thank you Jen for letting us enjoy it!!!
• Access to THE sweetest private lake with summer-camp like amenities. Lake Mont Pines is the ONLY area of Arnold with a private lake of this size and amenities. This summer, water temps were 75 degrees on average. Catch and release fishing for Large Mouth Bass (and Bluegill for all the first time fisher people).
• Five minutes to Big Trees Market. This market has EVERYTHING. Including an excellent selection of produce that is fresher (and in some cases less expensive) than what you will find in the bay area. And if you love beer, well, you will need to see the beer fridge for yourself.
• 40 Minutes to Bear Valley Ski Resort. I love this ski resort! Amazing runs for all levels and minimal lines. So perfect for kids and plenty of black diamonds for more advanced skiers & snowboarders. While I love Bear Valley for skiing/snowboarding and the Bear Valley Music Fest, it's much more fun to have a home base in Arnold due to the minimal amenities in Bear Valley.
• Did I mention that Bear Valley has one of the largest Cross County ski areas in California? As a person fearful of heights, cross county is for me! AND it is one of the best ways to view the beautiful Sierra in the winter.
• Mountain biking: Since I am mostly wimpy, I am not a mountain biking enthusiast, but from what I understand the Arnold Rim Trail offers some prime trails.
• 20 Minutes to Murphys. This is my favorite of all the Gold Rush towns on highway 49 (and there are many cool ones to visit). It's such a pretty town and if you love wine this is where all of the region's wineries have tasting rooms. Also a few REALLY good restaurants, a toy store, a book store + IronStone winery that features live concerts with all your favorite bands.
• Immediate access to hiking, fishing, rafting and caving.
• The Arnold Rim Trail is accessible from the Lake Mont Pines subdivision- look for point 20 for "Cougar Rock" on the ART trail map.
• Big Trees State Park. Thinking about visiting over crowded Muir Woods in Marin? Or Even the Redwoods in Yosemite? Forget all of the other Giant Redwoods. Go to Big Trees instead, and try the North Grove Trail- an AMAZING but easy trail for all abilities and ages. It takes about an hour but will carve off days of stress.
A car is recommended for getting around Arnold, but the neighborhood that the cabin is in is very walkable/accessible and bike/wheelchair friendly. The lake is right in front of the cabin, and the lake lodge is a 10 minute walk.
