Enjoy a romantic castle flat (56 m²) in the natural surroundings. Château des Gipières was built in 1865 by Napoleon III's stable master, Marquis Suarez d'Aulan, on the remains of a Romanesque castle. The estate also includes a restaurant, a large swimming pool, and a tennis court (hardcourt). The nearby village of Montbrun-les-Bains, situated at 600 metres altitude at the foot of Mont Ventoux, has not been voted one of France's most beautiful villages for nothing. Flat No 9 is at the front of the château, on the ground floor. It has views of Mont Ventoux and the swimming pool. It is equipped with all conveniences and comforts. Among other things, there is a television and a DVD player. The living room has a sitting and dining area. It is equipped with a double bed (160x200) that folds up easily and disappears into the wall cupboard. The apartment's kitchen is equipped with an electric cooker, a fridge-freezer, a microwave, a coffee machine and a kettle. You will also find an oven in the kitchen. The bedroom has two single beds (90x200),which you can easily turn into a double bed. The bathroom has a bath, a shower, a sink and a hairdryer. There is a separate toilet room in the apartment.

We had a lovely time at the chateau. It's pretty sleepy and vintage, but that suited us. The apartment is well equipped and spacious and the corner ground floor spot is perfect with the view on the grounds and the pool. The pool is amazing, very large and relaxing. We are a family of 4 with young kids and it's ideal to be able to have the kids take a nap at the apartment and relax at the pool. There is also a great restaurant right next to the chateau on the same grounds with a good wine cave. Ideal to buy a nice wine to enjoy at the apartment or terrace outside, and again in the evening when the children sleep we could enjoy a lovely dinner on the restaurant terrace and see our apartment from there. The village Montbrun les Bains is lovely as well, and there are many nice villages in the area well worth a visit. We specifically enjoyed Sault for a market stroll and nice lunch on the town square and Brantes for a stroll, gallery visit and crepes.

Wat een geweldig verblijf hebben we gehad. Deze plek overtrof al onze verwachtingen! Het appartement is comfortabel en je voelt je echt te gast in een kasteel. Je hebt van overal zicht op de Mont Ventoux. Het uitklapbed slaapt echt als een gewoon bed. Een topper dus, we komen heel graag nog eens terug! Gastvrouw Isabelle is de kers op de taart, wat een toffe madamme! ❤️

Unsere Ferien in der Parterre-Wohnung des Schlosses haben uns insgesamt sehr gut gefallen. Die Kommunikation mit "F" und insbesondere Isabel vor Ort war problemlos. Die Wohnung verfügt über eine kleine, funktionale Küche, ein Wohn-Schlafzimmer und ein Schlafzimmer sowie getrennt Bad und WC. Die Klimaanlage hat tadellos funktioniert, was bei der Hitze wichtig war. Bei der Buchung darf nicht übersehen werden, dass man die Wohnung ohne Grundausstattung bucht, also ohne Bettwäsche, Dusch- und Geschirrtücher, Seife, WC-Papier etc. Allerdings kann man das alles vor Ort gegen Bezahlung bei Isabel beziehen. Besonders gefallen hat uns und unseren Jungs der grosse Pool. In Anbetracht der anderen, eher älteren Gäste, welche Ruhe suchen, sind Kinder gefordert, sich rücksichtsvoll zu verhalten. Das Schloss liegt ausgezeichnet, um mit dem Auto die Umgebung, insb. auch die Lavendelfelder, zu besuchen.

Montbrun-les-Bains
This charming village, situated at an altitude of 600 metres, has not been voted one of France's most beautiful villages for nothing. Located at the foot of Mont Ventoux, Montbrun-les-Bains counts an average of 240 sunny days a year. The village actually consists of two parts. In the old part with its picturesque streets are the remains of a feudal castle, a Romanesque church and the bell tower that was part of the fortress walls.
Also in these walls are the fountains of "La Justice" and "Du Bourreau", which tell the story and legends of the village. In the lower part of the village are the supermarket, bakery, shops, restaurants, the post office and an Office du Tourisme.
Montbrun-les-Bains thermal baths
Next to the château is a complex with thermal baths, fed by the springs of Montbrun-les-Bains. The sulphur baths are used to treat rheumatism and respiratory infections, among other things. The thermal baths offer various cures, beauty treatments and packages. Timely reservations are necessary.
Cycling & cycling
Cycling enthusiasts and cyclists will enjoy the area. With your own bike or a hired one, there are many beautiful cycling routes starting from Château des Gipières. The nearest bike shop is in Sault, a village 12 km away: Albion Cycles. For the sporty cyclist, a climb of the famous Mont-Ventoux can of course not be missed. From Sault, it is 26 kilometres uphill to the summit.
The area
The beautiful surroundings offer many opportunities for relaxation and exercise. Below are some suggestions for activities:
In the immediate vicinity are interesting towns such as Sault, Vaison-la-Romaine, Nyons, Apt and Carpentras. The old town centres and their weekly markets are widely acclaimed. Mont Ventoux, Montagne de Lure, Luberon and Baronnies have picturesque spots such as La Fontaine de Vaucluse, Gordes, Rousillon and Rustrel (in the latter two you can admire the beautiful ochre colours) and Pays d'Apt with its villages perched high on the hills and the Luberon Natural Park. Not to mention the beautiful Gorges de la Nesque, the tourist route between Sault and Carpentras.
A little further away are famous cities such as Orange, Avignon, Nîmes, Aix-en-Provence and Marseille, rich in history, architecture and sights.
For the active holidaymaker, there are opportunities for horse riding, mountain biking, paragliding, canyoning and rock-climbing.
Châteauneuf-du-pape, Beaume de Venise, Gigondas: these are names that need no further introduction to wine lovers. Many domaines offer tours and tastings. You are particularly welcome at Domaine de Marotte in Serres near Carpentras. The Dutch couple Van Dijkman make many award-winning quality wines here and are happy to tell you about them.
