Waldamar, a luxury houseboat on 2 floors, situated on the banks of the River Orwell in the picturesque hamlet of Pin Mill. This is a whole boat rental. 5 bedrooms all en suite, a snug with a sofa bed, large saloon and a wonderful kitchen dining area, 2800 square feet in total. Outside- a deck with an outdoor kitchen and seating for 10-2 with the river in front, Pin mill woods behind and a great pub restaurant only 200m along a woodland path. This is perfect for large families/groups of friends looking to spend a few relaxing days away. No single sex groups . There is a large open plan kitchen /diner leading through to the saloon, which has big comfy sofas where one may sit and watch the activity on the river. Our cabins have been individually designed and all have en-suites. The bed linen in each room is Egyptian cotton from The White Company or John Lewis. The sanitary ware in the bathrooms is for the most part, Villeroy Boch. A stunning garden deck with bbq, & pizza oven and seating for 12, completes the setting for a perfect getaway.

We had a lovely time….family of ten and a baby…..luxury accommodation & beautiful place to chill. The butt & oyster is just down the road. Great food…but make sure you book. Would love to come again . Highly recommend.
A stunning place to relax with family and friends. Kitchen was incredibly well equipped and easy to use. Comfortable and spacious living area with enormous sofas. Fab spot with beautiful walks on the doorstep. Constable’s Hay Wain walk is a must. Alex and Sue were very responsive and helpful. Definitely one to return to.

Beautiful boat house in a perfect setting. Absolutely faultless from beginning to end, we came with 3 generations from 7yrs - 74 and everyone had a great time. Local pub and great walks right from the boathouse. We will definitely be back in the future!
Such a wonderful break, greeted warmly on arrival, felt like a luxury hotel, very comfortable. Peaceful location with amazing welcoming pub close walk away, with great food options. Very good walks from the boat & perfect village shop for forgotten items only a 20 minute walk away. Short walk to accommodation along a gravel path ( could be muddy if wet weather so walking boots or wellies needed - great boot room on boat) from parking space. Pizza oven worked well, log burner lovely & easy to use. Our 2 year old grandson loved being on the boat, but adult supervision needed on the deck … he loved watching the birds feeding & boats sailing by. We will be going back again.

Pin Mill and the surrounding area have a natural beauty. It appeals to ramblers, dog walkers, photographers, bird watcher, cyclists and sailors alike. On leaving Waldamar you access a National Trust path which leads in all directions to woodland and riverside walks. For those wishing to travel a little further, across the water is Nacton Park, an area of outstanding beauty and Alton Water is a 15-20 minute car journey, where one can hire bikes and water sport equipment for a fun day out.
The Butt and Oyster, a renowned Suffolk “Gastro Pub”, is 200 metres from Waldamar along the woodland path. Fantastic food and drink, friendly service with views over the River Orwell whether you are sitting inside or outside on their deck.
Further along the path is the Royal Harwich Yacht Club, next to Woolverstone Marina which serves food and drink and has a large lawned area overlooking the river. Visiting sailors are welcome.
At the top of Pin Mill Lane is the Red Lion, yet another pub restaurant which serves terrific food. All of these hostelries can be accessed on foot from Waldamar.
The best way of getting around is walking or cycling.
We have 2 residential car parking spaces for guests, but there is also a public car park which costs 2.40 for 24hours.
The bus stop at the top of Pin Mill Lane will take you to either Ipswich or Shotley.
Ipswich has a mainline railway station with good connections to London.
Shotley has a ferry that runs Spring - Autumn to Harwich and Felixstowe.
