This small quaint town with historic Victorian architecture was designed by the architect, Frederick Law Olmstead which is the same architect that designed New York’s Central Park. This town has been transforming over the past 5 - 10 years as a destination for foodies. An old stone church was purchased by and transformed into the 2nd location for The Wooden Door Winery. Right around the corner on Grant is our newest addition, Allusions- a micro brewery with all the brewing equipment on site. Within less than one block across from the public parking lot is the 3 generation family owned diner, G & G Restaurant. If you want to experience a local tavern with a Cheers-like atmosphere, make sure you check in with Joanne, the owner and often bartender at AJ’s Restaurant on Washington Ave. If a craft pizza is more your style, then you have to go to Iannis on the corner of Grant and Farragut which is only 1 block away. This is their 3rd location which includes a brick oven was imported directly from Italy and they ship in large wheels of Italian cheese on a monthly basis. They are located one of the historic curved brick structures that has an interior design similar to that of the loft apartment you will be staying in.

All of the restaurants mentioned above are within less than 3 blocks of the apartment. There are local parks, a small community theatre that has the feel of a city music hall and the Kiskiminetas river which has some good fishing and kayaking. If you want to go for a nice scenic walk or bike ride, within less than 10 minutes, there is the Roaring Run Rails to Trails path along the Kiskiminetas River with parking located in Apollo. The Buffalo Freeport trail is a little further, but just as scenic and along a small waterway. If getting out and adventuring further is more your style, the City of Pittsburgh is within about 45 minutes, Ohiopyle is about 1 hour south and the Laurel Highlands is located within about 1 hour. Also within a very short distance are historical sites that include Bushy Run Battlefield, Fort Ligonier, Fort Pitt Museum and even Bedford which has a small colonial town to explore and was a common stopping place for General George Washington.
