Angi has created a special place to stay in the charming and historic South Cotswold village of France Lynch, which lies within an Area of Oustanding Natural Beauty (ANOB). The property is situated above the ‘Golden Valley’ and the quirky hillside and valley village of Chalford. The South Cotswolds is characterised by its wooded hillsides, deep valleys, glorious rolling pastureland and charming, ancient Cotswold stone villages.
Ideally positioned 20 minutes from Cirencester and within approximately 45 minutes drive to the Roman city of Bath and 35 minutes to Regency Cheltenham. The M4 and M5 are easily accessible from the area.
Nearby, there is an excellent award winning Farm Shop, ‘Jolly Nice’, comprising a selection of wooden buildings and Yurts offering high quality produce, drive through coffees, a wood burning stove and fire pits for use in the colder months, and a picnic meadow.
Walk down into the Chalford Valley to the popular ‘Lavender Bakehouse’ for an excellent breakfast, light lunch or an indulgent afternoon tea. Afterwards, if your ready for a stroll, follow the footpath along the River Frome which runs through the valley.
If you are fortunate enough to be here over a weekend, we strongly recommend a trip to the Award Winning Farmers Market in Stroud where you will find locally sourced produce, organic food, flowers, home made cakes and puddings, soaps, cheeses, breads and olive oils, as well as the delicious street food on offer throughout.
Or if you prefer and want to see panoramic views, head towards the National Trust Commons of Minchinhampton, Rodborough or Selsley, from where, on a clear day, you can see the River Severn and beyond to the mountains of Wales. Please be aware however, of the roaming cattle between May and November!
During your stay here, you might want to explore the many beautiful walks, pathways and donkey trails that crisscross their way through the local hills and woods. Electric bikes are available to rent in the area should you need a bit of extra power on the hills.
The charming Cotswold villages of Bisley, Eastcombe, Frampton Mansell and Oakridge Lynch are within walking distance and each has it’s own unique pub or two, offering light lunches and evening meals. There is also a friendly little pub in France Lynch itself, that also provides food. Worth a mention is Stroud Brewery between the main road and the canal, where you can enjoy a great selection of local ales, live music, coffees, teas and home baked delicious pizzas.

Guests can hire electric bikes locally from Ark Cycles in the valley or there is a bus stop to Stroud, from Middle Hill at the end of Brantwood Road, on the small green. At the bottom of Chalford Hill on London Road, there is a bus stop to Cirencester.
