Liddesdale Lodge sits on the Isthmus of The Rhins of Galloway and Stranraer, perfectly situated for walkers, cyclists and wild swimmers. With its close proximity to Loch Ryan and other beaches makes it ideal for all other water based activities. Stranraer Golf Club can also offer golfers discounted daily rates. The ferries at Cairnryan are 14 minutes away. The self catering Lodge enjoys rural aspects, and is within walking distance of local bars, restaurants, shops and parks. The Lodge has an open plan lounge and kitchen, with patio doors leading on to a private garden with seating area, bbq, chimnea and outdoor shower. A small step leads to the double bedroom with King sized bed and ensuite shower room. Car parking at the front, with bicycle storage and stand.
Great hosts: I am a frequent flyer and the flat suits me very well. The kitchen deserves a special mention.

A beautifully renovated place, with everything you need for a lovely stay. I was on placement and was staying here for 4 weeks and it was perfect for what I needed. A wonderfully equipped kitchen, a nice homely living space and very comfy bed.
Liddesdale Lodge has rural aspects and has easy access to all local amenities. Bars,restaurants and shops are within walking distance ( one mile).
The Ryan Centre features a swimming pool, gym, cinema and theatre, the facilities can be used with no membership required and can be paid for on the day.
The famous annual Oyster Festival is a 10 minute walk away, and is a bustling gourmet delight.
The Lodge has been created with walkers , cyclists and wild swimmers in mind ( all activities that we do ourselves). The Rhins has many coastal and forest walks , and is part of The Southern Upland Way.
An exciting new development for cyclists opening this summer is the new 250 mile coast to coast cycle route from Stranraer to Eyemouth.
A little less strenuous are the beautiful cycle routes around Loch Ryan and The Rhins.
There are numerous wild swimming spots around the coast for people to enjoy. Such as Lady Bay, Port Logan and Ardwell Bay.
Stranraer Golf Club is a four minute drive away, and will offer a discounted daily fee for guests.
There are three beautiful gardens in the area. Logan Botanical Gardens, Castle Kennedy and Glenwhan Gardens. Being warmed by the Gulf Stream Logan Botanical Gardens is able to grow plants from Australia, New Zealand, Central America and Africa.
The ferry service at Cairnryan which connects Larne and Belfast is a 14 minute drive away ( Paul and Heather would be happy to drop off and pick up if we're available)
There are many historical sites in the area, from the supposedly haunted Dunskey Castle, Sawney Beans cave, and of course, all the history that surrounds Loch Ryan.
For bird watchers, there is Aldouran Glen and the wetlands, The Mull of Galloway, Wig Bay and many more.
While on the coast look out for seals, dolphins , harbour porpoises, and otters, and when in the forest you are likely to see deer, red squirrels and foxes. There have been recent sightings of wild goats in the area.
Portpatrick, Port William and Port Logan together with Luce Bay and The Forest of Galloway are all in easy distance.
For star gazers, the dark skies in the area are perfect to see the constellations and sometimes on a clear night you may be lucky enough to see the Aurora Borealis.

Plenty free parking in the town. Also a two hour parking permit will be supplied for shortstay carparks.
Railway station within walking distance and city link buses.
Ferries to Ireland are a 14 minute drive away.
Easily accessible local taxi services.
