This was a lovely stay in a lovely chalet - our toddler was so happy meeting the horses and going for country walks. Thanks to Esther for providing a cot. Communication could be a little better.

Overall it was an ok stay. We came over the Christmas period, Esther had already advised they were closed and this poney rides restaurants were reopening on 27th Dec and we had no issues with this. PROS: nice to go for walks, pet the poneys, walk in the fairy garden, not too many cars passing by. Place takes dogs so great to get them with us. There’s a restaurant but we did not try it. Nice touch on arrival with fireplace on and mulled wine and apple drink for the kids. CONS: Cleaning: though the host adheres to extra cleaning I am not convinced, there was dirt under the beds, corners and bathroom ( where the cleaner should remove things to clean behind). I cleaned the bathroom, door knobs… whatever we were going to touch… TLC: the place needs a lot of TLC, the bedroom door upstairs fell on me and no surprise the screws were not put correctly in the wall. The shower doors also got removed from its hinges when I was showing the kids how to use the shower (it was easy to put back) glad all this happened with me and not my kids on Christmas Eve.. COMMUNICATION: I had asked to book poney rides on 27th when we booked the place, nevertheless when I checked a couple of days before arrival it did not seem to be booked and I got no confirmation it was. I checked again on the 27th in the morning and Esther came around 12 to say the girl had Covid and she would try again tomorrow… We did it the next day but I was not impressed. Also mentioned the door but no apologies nor attempt to fix…. HEATING: the fire was working and there is an electric heater in the main living room. There was no heating in the downstairs bedroom and bathroom and upon checking with Esther on arrival she said the fire should be heating the whole place (though it was cold) she offered to bring a heater for the bedroom if we wanted because she needed to have the heating fixed in January. I felt this should have been done in advance… because of the lack of heating the place is musty and all bedsheets were humid on arrival and it was so cold in the bathroom luckily the weather was mild outside. If the place was properly taken care of and got a deep cleaning it would be great but as it stands I would not return.

Great rural location. Nice solid fuel burner in then living area. Great walks in surrounding countryside.

We had a wonderful time in the beautiful chalet, just sorry we weren't staying longer. Perfect place to relax and switch off, even the dog didn't want to leave. Our girls loved spending so much time with the horses, both riding and helping out and are already planning their next visit. The staff were so friendly and accommodating which added to a wonderful experience.
