11/10. Everything about the Refugio del Volcan is incredible and exceeds expectations, plus James is an amazing host. - Peaceful and quiet. You'll wake up to birds singing and fall asleep to the glow of fireflies. - Amazing views of the lake and volcano from your room, the hammocks, and the hot tub. - Short walk to town, with tiendas, including fresh vegetable / fruit / tortillas available just a few minutes away. Cheap tuktuks are available when needed. - Close to amazing hiking, swimming, kayaking / paddle boarding, and endless cultural immersion. "Water Taxis" (lanchas) docks are nearby, and can take you to the incredible towns around the lake. - Clean, drinkable water from the tap and endless hot showers via solar power. - Super fast, reliable starlink internet, great for video calls if working abroad. Solar power means you always have electricity. - Comfortable beds, high quality linens. Friendly staff for laundry and cleaning needs. I can't wait to go back someday.

INCREDIBLE Airbnb, one of the coolest places I have stayed at. Our stay at this Airbnb was very enjoyable and suited our needs perfectly for working remotely. The host was very attentive and quick to respond to any inquiries, making us feel well cared for. My friends and I came here to work remotely from a cool place and this was the perfect perfect spot, the property featured a high speed wifi that was reliable and fast enough to handle multiple video calls simultaneously, which was a major plus for us. It also features a large garden with a jacuzzi, footballs, and frisbees, providing a pleasant escape from our work routine, if needed. One of the highlights was the view, especially the sunrises we watched each morning. Overall, it was a great choice for a work-focused getaway, offering both comfort and convenience.

Great host, always responsive. Beautiful house. A little off the beaten path, if you like to get out and explore, not the greatest for that, if you plan to stay in the property has everything you need and more. Excellent wine James makes with the fruit on his property. Unreal stunning views.

This place is a gem! A short walk from town, or even easier tuk tuk ride. Extremely peaceful and beautiful. Amazing mattress (most definitely the best in Guatamala). James was an awesome host with great recommendations for the area. The hot tub and views were a big highlight for me. Shower was also awesome, hot water and clean!! My travel day here was long and James offered to make pizzas when I arrived, an awesome welcome! No complaints, very grateful to have found this place.
