San Pedro La Laguna · 整套乡村小屋 · 1室2床1.0卫 · 可住2人 · Sweet little cottage at lake La Laguna
Amazing view, just 50 steps from lake! Enjoy this sweet cottage in the best part of San Pedro La Laguna. Well-equipped kitchen, artsy bathroom w/rustic tub, bedroom w/pillow top double bed, rustic tile floors, Mayan photos on the walls. Covered patio in a large yard w/privacy fence, a fun place for meals, games, or just relaxing. Upstairs: Enclosed sun room w/ huge windows, futon sofa, gorgeous lake & mountain views. Guests say we've thought of everything. Everything about this cottage says "someone cares". You'll get it as soon as you come through the gate ... it sits on a big double lot, nicely landscaped with grass, hedges and flowers. And the cottage itself? It's, well, sweet! And almost all new. (If you are mobility impaired, please see the note at the end of this section.). THE SUN ROOM: The home was one-story until we built a covered sun room with an almost 360-degree view of the lake and volcano. There's a futon/pull-down couch (with pillow top and linens for sleeping), plus chairs and a small table. We love to eat, read, or just visit with friends up there! THE LIVING AREAS: The living room is spacious and comfortable, with a desk if you want to work and Bose speakers you can connect to your device. THE BEDROOM: The new double bed with pillow top is in a separate room at the end of the living room. It's wonderfully sunny with windows all around and curtains for evening privacy and great sleeping. The steps to the sun room are here too, so you don't need to go outside. THE KITCHEN: If you like to cook with quality items, you'll love the kitchen. It's a small enough space that you just need to turn around to get what you need. It also has ample counter space, a new oven, and a good-size fridge. We even installed a silent water pump outside to get great water pressure in the kitchen (a rarity in San Pedro). PEACE & QUIET: We're in one of the quietest sections of San Pedro -- you will almost never hear a vehicle, and there's only the occasional music. There are street dogs in San Pedro that occasionally disrupt the peace ... but not for long. SAFETY: San Pedro La Laguna is rated as very safe. Tourists can walk freely without fear, even at night. This might be due to the extensive security system they have in place -- or it could be the awesome residents who don't put up with crime. We have lighted security cameras on the path outside the cottage to be sure kids don't spray graffiti on the cottage. THE BACK STORY: This cottage is a labor of love between the owner, a Mayan with a wife and two young children, and a semi-retired creative writer. They both loved the house, so they struck a deal: she would rent it and, with his help, would renovate the house to create a B&B which he could then manage, sharing any profit. All this to say that you'll feel at home because we worked together to make a space that feels good ... a cottage we hope you'll fall in love with! THINK GLOBALLY, ACT LOCALLY: The Mayans at Lake Atitlan don't have a lot of opportunity -- this is our attempt to help create some. Please join us by renting our sweet cottage! Here's a review from our first guests in 12-23 (they used another channel for booking): We spent 5 nights here and the stay was absolutely perfect! The location is very quiet and the lake can be reached in 2 minutes on foot. On our arrival we were picked up by Armando at the front on the street and guided to the house. Armando and Mary Helen are very helpful and always available for questions. In addition, Armando is also a local guide and likes to accompany you on tours in the region (we did the Sunrise-Hike with him). The cottage is very nice, lovingly and stylishly furnished and offers a lot of comfort. The kitchen facilities are excellent and upon arrival there were already fruits, orange juice, bread and a few more food items ready for us. Also some spices and some ingredients for cooking and baking are available. There is a large garden all around the house for sole use, which offers a lot of privacy. We would absolutely recommend the accommodation and would book it again anytime immediately. Thank you Armando and Mary Helen!
If this place is available, book it now! You won't regret it. It's one of the few airbnbs I've stayed at that really has soul! Some of my favorite things were: the well equipped kitchen with a GREAT stove; the super comfortable bed; the sunroom with its almost surreal views of the lake, and the outdoor yard and patio area. It's an easy 10 minute walk to town, and we enjoyed the exercise. We bought produce at the local market and cooked a meal in the lovely kitchen. We used the yoga mat up in the sunroom for some morning stretches. And we loved how there was no tv to distract from reading outside on the patio. Wi-fi worked great. The hosts are very helpful and responsive. We hiked Indian Nose with Armando, and it was a highlight of our trip. Definitely recommend. 5 stars all around!
My wife and I stayed at Mary-Helens for a month and loved the space! Everything that we could have wanted was provided throughout the home. We worked remotely the entire time there and the wifi was fantastic both in the home and in the garden. It is such a well manacured space that made us feel completely at home! The location is great as its a quick walk to the beach and just a few minutes farther into town. We highly reccomend Mary Helens for short and long stays.
The sweet little cottage has everything that qualifies for Five Star rating. The word casita indicates a small house, and that is exactly what it is. Self-sufficient, well equipped, well designed and well executed. The crowning jewel is the upstairs that has a couch and two chairs and an incredible view all the way to Panachel. The yoga mat was the cherry on top. Removed from the center hustle, it is well situated close to support stores, couple good restaurants and the omni presents tuk-tuk for a quick getaway. As with all great adventures, like a Himalayan Sherpa, there is Armando. He bailed me out more than once, and has a vast wealth of knowledge, because he has grown up in the area and knows all its secrets. You just gotta ask. A great base to work from or if so inclined, there are at least four Spanish schools that I was aware of, within three blocks. Dream your sweet dream, until your soul is released. Enjoy PS: there’s a new mattress and topper. Sent from my iPhone
Thank you for this amazing experience at lake Atitlan. The cottage is a tiny place on Earth where the time is still and you can hear your heart beat, birds singing, watch cute frogs in the garden, enjoy your breakfast at peace at the terrace and just appreciate little things around! We stayed an entire week and it was not enough I can tell. The cottage is located away from the rush of the center, yet close enough if you feel like having a nice dinner or enjoy the vibe of San Pedro. An easy 15min nice walk. The neighborhood is very safe just as San Pedro, we really enjoyed that we stayed at this location with mostly locals, it was nice to meet the baker man in the morning and have a little chat, having a nice coffee around the corner and see the local kids playing around. Everything was perfect. The cottage is a real gem. Thank you again
This is a super peaceful space. A very short walk to town, but away from the noise of the "tuc tucs" (taxis) and nightlife.
Walk up the path to the main street and hail a 'tuc tuc' taxi or simply walk up to the mercado (local market) ... or visit the tourist part of town. It's all nearby but not on top of you.
Our home is near everything you could want -- steps to the lake and beach, and walking distance to restaurants, bars, and Spanish schools...
Not to mention the San Pedro volcano which is practically in our back yard!
You can walk everywhere from here, or hail a 'tuc tuc' (taxi) just up the path from the cottage.
