The property is great for those who want to be a bit outside of the hustle and bustle that is San Pedro. The wifi was strong, hot water and Netflix for the nights we stayed in, a nice sitting area, jacuzzi, laundry service, firepit and a beautiful view. We also felt safe walking to the nearby restaurant at night and taking a tuk-tuk into San Pedro. James's exceptional hospitality provided us with so much useful info! While the property's charm is undeniable, it's important to note a couple of considerations - as mentioned on the listing there are a lot of stairs to the property. However, the stairs/path to the Airbnb are long and not to be underestimated! My partner and I were humbled every time we left the property by how steep and long the stairs were especially with our suitcases. Additionally, nighttime might require adjustment for those unaccustomed to outdoor settings due to bugs that got into the casita even when the door was shut. Nonetheless, we werehappy with James's spot!

Excelente opción para quienes buscan un lugar tranquilo, alejado del bullicio de San Pedro, vista excepcional, en medio del bosque, justo al pié del volcán. Acabados de lujo y una decoración de muy buen gusto. Se nota el amor y dedicación que le han puesto a este airbnb.

James hat eine sehr schönes kleines Häuschen auf seinem Grundstück gebaut welches von innen wie ein Hotelzimmer wirkt. Es gibt noch weitere, daher sind auch andere Gäste auf der Anlage. Wir haben den Whirlpool nicht genutzt, aber er macht einen sehr luxuriösen Eindruck sowie die freie Wiesenfläche mit Spielen und einer Feuerstelle. James ist sehr zuvorkommend und stets hilfsbereit, hier kann man sich sicher fühlen und entspannen, nur die Aussicht auf den See könnte besser sein.

Très bon séjour dans notre petit chez nous au refugio del Volcan. La propriété de James est un peu a l’écart de San Pedro (nous avons fait les trajets à pied ou en tuktuk sans souci) mais nous avons été ravies d’y trouver le calme et la sérénité que nous recherchions. L’appartement est impeccable, propre, fonctionnel, calme, tout pour s’y sentir chez soi pour qq nuits, jardin arboré et soigné avec oiseaux qui chantent le matin, terrasse face au lac avec hamac … Machine a laver sur place, un plus Et James est toujours disponible, a l’écoute, et nous a donné de très bons conseils de balades, visites et bons restaurants. Parfait pour un séjour au lac Atitlan.

We had a great time during our stay at Refugio de Volcan. James was at the front of the entrance waiting to greet us as soon as we arrived. We were there a few hours early before check in but we were able to drop off our luggage and explore San Pedro while we waited for our place to be ready. James provided us with a lot of good recommendations at Lake Atitlan and was also very quick to respond to any questions we had. This is the perfect place to get some remote work done while also enjoying the breathtaking views of the lake. I highly recommend staying here if you are looking for a more quiet and peaceful stay at San Pedro. Also be sure to try the wine selection that he has provided in the room!
