Set within an 8 acre private cinnamon plantation and designed by one of Sri Lanka's leading architects Samadara is a true gem. The fully staffed estate is ideally placed for some of the best beaches in Sri Lanka with many exciting restaurants and bars on your doorstep. Galle is easily accessible by road or a delightful local train ride. Despite its convenient location the villa is extremely secluded with uninterrupted views over paddy fields and coconut groves making it the ideal exotic retreat. The stylish villa offers 3 double bedrooms and 1 bedroom with two single beds all with their own private terraces, private outdoor bathrooms, wifi and air-conditioning. Larger groups can make use of the fifth twin bedroom, which is above the yoga studio (which is non en-suite and non air-conditioned although it has a fan) or for additional spillover there is a sixth twin bedroom which is located in our cinnamon cottage (non-air conditioned although it has a fan). The villa boasts incredible interiors including local art and antiques throughout the property. The villa has generous relaxation space (both indoors and outdoors): an air-conditioned library and TV room, a yoga room, a well equipped modern kitchen, a dining room, a sitting room, a BBQ area, a large veranda made for sundowners and of course the huge swimming pool and surrounding sunning area. The house is run by our very friendly English-speaking house manager, Madura. He will be your main point of contact whilst staying at the Estate. Our skilled chef will prepare you delicious breakfasts of fresh fruit from the garden and local curd followed by his now infamous egg hoppers. The chef can cook all meals upon request depending on your movements. His BBQ's with fresh fish from the mornings catch are particular good! Guests ONLY pay for the ingredients which the chef will source from his expertise at the local markets: this way we can offer an extremely cost effective way for dining in for our guests! Although there is of course an abundance of good local restaurants. A driver can be arranged and the Estate has the benefit of its own tuk-tuk. There is free WiFi with high speed internet access throughout the villa and garden. The Estate has it's own organic vegetable garden and copious coconut trees, the produce of which you will undoubtedly enjoy during your stay. There is security staff provided with a manned security post at the gated entrance. We also cater for children (highchair, kids cutlery, pool toys, cots etc) and we can arrange a very good English speaking babysitter for circa 50 USD / day. Samadara is one of those truly special places that will live long in the memory. Fast becoming the most talked about private stay in Sri Lanka. We were a group of 6 adults and a baby and there was almost too much room for us - the rooms were all great, clean and comfy. The whole estate was so stylish and well kept we felt like kings and queens for the 6 days we were there. Madura and his family looked after us so well, the cooking for breakfast and dinner was some of the best food we ate on our trip and if we wanted anything organised Madura was all over it immediately! We even had our own private yoga and massage session for the day which was a real treat. The villa is tucked away on a beautiful cinnamon plantation so you will need transport to get you near a beach or into the towns, but if you’re anything like us you probably won’t venture out too much as it’s so nice and relaxing at the villa. Overall we loved it - thank you! Jenny June 2018 Samadara is exactly as advertised - it’s beautiful, clean, relaxing and a wonderful place to be with friends or family. The pool is huge, the rooms are all well kept and private enough - the outdoor bathrooms are quite impressive! The housekeeper and his wife are friendly and cook a delicious rice and curry if you want it. Breakfast of fresh fruit, curd, eggs etc is also great. The only tricky bit is that the location is quite hard to find - (Hidden by Airbnb) maps is relatively accurate but keep your eyes peeled for small signs and tight turnings! But once you’re there you don’t need to leave - I would definitely recommend this place to any large group! We had a wonderful weekend here. Richard April 2018 The place is incredible! We had a wonderful time thank you. The house was a 10 minute drive from the beach which we really loved. Some of the places we have stayed at that are close to the beach are really noisy and dirty. This house was super peaceful and relaxed. The property is huge with a cinnamon grove to explore with the kids, a massive pool and a fantastic tv room. the bedrooms were beautiful, we especially loved the artwork and antiques. Our hosts, Madura and his wife, couldn't have been more helpful. Be sure to take up the local style dinner on offer at the villa. You'd pay very good money for main courses like this in Europe. Madura is well connected locally with drivers and the like so any tours you are thinking of doing he will be able to organise at your convenience. Note though that a drive to Galle can take over an hour, and a good run would be more like 45mins. David October 2018 An amazing and tranquil place. Breakfast and dinner were always delicious (tasty Sri Lankan curries) and Madura could not do enough for us from popping out to get some beer and ice to taking us to probably the most lovely and secluded beach I've ever been to. Definitely visit again. Barbara August 2018 The house is just as pictures, an amazing house with a lovely and heat pool. We were a big group of three families, and we had a great time at Samadara and we would recommend. Although the location seems to be a quiet place, you can expect to hear the prayers from the nearby temple throughout the night and also the dogs from the dog kennel in the neighborhood ...The access is made through a narrow street of clay and difficult to find. Nevertheless, Madura (the house manager) and his wife Chamilla did all to make our stay unforgettable, and this wonderful house wouldn’t definitely be the same without them. A dishwasher would help a lot their work and set them free for other tasks. A generator is also mandatory, we had a few hours without electricity and there is none at the property.
