If you like the outdoors, you have direct access to Blencathra which can offer anything from a leisurely stroll to a quite challenging climb. Other Lakeland Fells in the area include Helvellyn, Skiddaw, Catbells and Latrigg, so pack your walking boots! Doddick Farm Cottages are situated on the main route from Penrith to Keswick and are just off the A66 so you’re never too far from any of the local delights including two excellent pubs with local ales and great food. Keswick Golf Club, which is surrounded by amazing scenery, is just 1 mile away. You can reach Keswick in just 5 miles which boasts a number of fantastic restaurants, bars, pubs, shops, a very popular local market and a number of attractions. There are a variety attractions for children including Puzzling Place, a fun attraction based on optical illusions, or perhaps the Derwent Pencil Museum, where you can find the largest pencil in the world. Make sure to visit the Theatre by the Lake. Set on the shores of Derwentwater it offers award-winning drama and arts and with such a beautiful backdrop you can watch the sunset over the lake.
