自我介绍

I am a former Department of Defense junior, and former Navy spouse, retired in 2010 from parallel careers in community college education and mental health counseling and crisis response work. I have interest in community mediation and photography, and have a variety of hobbies with little time to indulge them. I have travelled the world and stayed in hotels, motels, private homes and B&B's in many places, and work to provide that little something to each guest that will make them feel ultimately at home with us, while away from their own. I am almost a local, having been born just south of Spokane before I began travelling with my parents, and later, with the Navy. I have also lived in the rural farming communities of the Palouse before returning to the city. I am health-oriented, but my partner and I both enjoy cooking and good food--sometimes that creates some crises of conscience! If you want good food, entertainment, and friendly people around you, I have discovered Spokane to be a wonderful place for that, without the hassles of many major cities, including traffic! I love to walk, and Browne's Addition is safe for that, with many interesting sights, restaurants, parks, supermarkets, shopping, art galleries, and other things to see within a mile of the 1899 House--so we walk a lot in good weather. I also enjoy fusion cooking with my Cuban partner in this venture; my own background is mostly Irish-Italian. That, combined with my having lived in both Europe (Sardinia) and Asia (Japan), adds wonderful meal options on our private table, and a desire to eat just about anything, when we are out. We are connected to many benevolent organizations in this area, and enjoy volunteering whenever we can, or donating to several causes. My partner/innkeeper is also fluent in Spanish, should visitors have need of language assistance. I love music, good books, movies and concerts. I have public speaking experience with Toastmasters and Dale Carnegie training, and enjoy conversation. I have also been known to play a mean game of Scrabble, among others games! I look forward, with pleasure, to meeting each guest, and getting to know them at whatever level they are comfortable with, or have time for, while also appreciating their need for privacy in their travels.
