We came with two toddlers and had a fantastic time. Katsouras is calm and peaceful, the shops and services we needed were minutes walk. We made excursions to nearby towns, hills and monasteries. The Villa was built with the highest standards and is stunningly well maintained, as is it’s garden. It is very kid friendly and safe, and really just tasteful in every way. We will be coming back.

Beautiful home in a quiet area. The downstairs is really two apartments, one larger and one small for one or two people. It took me some time to figure that out when reading the description. We were only four people but we value space and privacy. A larger group, unless they are a family might find it a bit cramped. The outside area is spacious and location on the water is really great. The outside/pool is shared with the upstairs unit. It was occupied when we were there but without issue. Renting the entire space, both upstairs and downstairs, for a group that know each other well would be ideal. Local restaurants are good, not great. Grocery nearby is convenient. Ierapetra is a 20 minute drive for more expansive services.

Engineering and art combined to create perfection. Dora's place is perfect, and combines high aesthetic values, artistic eye and attention to details combined with great practical design, spacial definition, and engineering. There are many beautiful spots within the premises and it never feels crowded, tanning area, relaxing area, indoor eating area, outdoor eating area, lovely bbq area, as well as bicycles for all ages as well. Everything you need inside, cooking utensils, grocery, wifi, televisions all is the latest up to date technology. My youngest child his room extremely magical with a double bed, well designed bathroom and astronomy theme decorated wall. The house is planned in a way that you can rent the whole complex the upstairs and the 2 units downstairs or just one of them. I had the pleasure to rent the bottom part across the full bedroom unit, and the additional extra bedroom/ studio unit. We were 2 families of 10 people 4 adults and 6 kids, and we enjoyed the private pool and beach access. I cannot describe how well Dora has designed this diamond of a house, both in terms of practicality and aesthetic. More over, the maintenance is admirable, the team onsite cleaned the outdoor area to perfection daily and communication is great in regard to any needs or questions and are prompt with solutions. This house was built with love for Dora and her family to use and I admire their generosity of sharing this treasure with people, including beautiful bed linens, towels and even toiletries from a local olive oil brand, sharing it with us as if we are part of their extended family. Despite the house feeling private and remote, there is a bakery, mini market, beach bar, pebble stone beach and some of the best tavernas in the area within walking distance. The views and the sounds of the private beach are amazing, it is a bit rough for young kids and quite rocky but the great large swimming pool provides an answer to that and there are some fantastic beaches within walking distance and more amazing ones a 5-10 minute drive away. This is a great property, and amazing value for money- If I ever build a holiday home, Dora will be building it for me, for sure!

When you book a place online, you always have this nagging feeling on how it will be in “real life” vs all the photos in the web-site. I have to say – that in the case of this villa – the photos did not do justice to the place, and it has acceded our expectations. Everything in the house was top notch – and every corner carefully designed and thought of. From the entrance with the code panel, to the glass walls that surround the place, to every small thing – it was all both efficient and beautiful. We were a large group, so we rented the entire place (without the Europe suite which is on the top floor and is the private resident of Dora). This mean we had 3 of the units – each in different size and in different design – but it was perfect for our needs. On the top floor we had one unit with a bedroom for a couple, with its own walk-in shower and toilet, and another room with 4 bunk beds (i.e. 4 beds) and its own bathroom and shower. This unit has a small kitchen but no joint sitting area (which we did not need). One key bonus is the small balcony from the bedroom looking to the south-west side on the sea, with an open view for the magnificent sunsets. You have an accessible shower, and even an elevator. All rooms has air-condition, and wifi. There is also a safe. One of the units on the ground floor was for a couple, and had more privacy, and even an exit to its own small sitting area in the back of the house. Very nice. The third unit was the biggest, with 2 bedrooms with a joint shower, and another small bedroom with one bank bed (i.e. 2 beds) with a small bathroom and shower of its own. This mean that a family of 6 could easily fit. This unit had a nice joint sitting area with a dining table and kitchen. So if a priority of yours is a large indoor joint area (like a large living room with a large kitchen that can fit a group of 10 and more inside) – the layout might not be the best fit for that. But since it seems that this place is designed for summer recreation – for us it was PERFECT! The real thinking on design in the outside – where you spend most of you time anyway. The pool is an infinity one, with the jacuzzi as part of it (i.e. not a hot tub, but in the temp of the pool). Ton of outdoor sitting options, sun-bathing options, and even a sweet water shower head near the pool. You even have an outdoor sink and refrigerator near the pool, with all the things you need to make yourself a refreshing cocktail. That’s the level of attention to details. There are tables and sofas all over, enough to enable even a group of 12 to eat outside. The garden has many different herbs in it, that you can use, and a big coal grill area, if you want to barbeque. Dora even places several sizes of bicycles, with brand new helmets, including the helping wheels – for the use of the guests – which the kids highly enjoyed. The villa is sited right on the sea, right on a wide walking path that can take you to several beaches 200m away, and to local tavernas. Which we highly enjoyed. There are 2 supermarkets right on the road behind he house, and 2 bakeries – one focuses on breads and one on sweets – both excellent. Finally – a very good word for Dora. She was really helpful in helping us make catering reservations for our arrival evening, and the following breakfast, and gave us very good recommendations for dinner options – both in a walking distance and in the next, bigger, village 4km away. The area itself is beautiful, with many small secluded beaches around. About almost 2 hours drive from Heraklion airport, an hour drive from Agios Nicolas, and an hour from Sitia. Even this short review does not do enough justice to the place and to the host, and I highly recommend this place, the great host, and the area to anyone looking for a luxurious vacation right on the beach. The sunsets and night sky themselves are the free bonus you get everyday..
