I could not recommend this more!! We came up here for a visit to the El Rosario Butterfly Sanctuary, and every part of the trip exceeded our expectations. The hosts were responsive from the start, and even assured me that there were still butterflies, despite coming late in the season (they start to migrate north in early March). The hotel is beautiful and peaceful. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The TVs only play DVDs and the hosts have a huge book of DVDs you can borrow to watch. Downstairs they have a delicious restaurant, board games, and a large property to walk through. They were helpful and responsive to every need we had. We brought our dog with us. Dogs are not allowed in the butterfly sanctuary, and the hotel does not allow dogs to stay alone in the room, but they have a completely fenced dog yard with an open area as well as individual pens. We left our (very anxious) dog in there for the two hours we were visiting the butterflies and it was completely fine.

Excelente lugar para desconectar y pasar tiempo en exterior disfrutando del bosque, la comida del lugar es muy buena, me sentí como en casa con esos platillos caseros y un chocolate caliente por la noche cuando llegó el frío. Ideal para quedarte cerca del santuario de la mariposa que queda a solo 10 min de ahí, el camino es fácil para cualquier auto ! Gracias !

We loved our stay here! The setting is beautiful and the grounds are amazing with all kinds of cool gardens and structures. The rooms had private fireplaces, which was very cozy. The staff was incredibly helpful and the food was excellent as well. We will definitely come back!

You are a guest in an old ranch style home. The rooms and bathrooms are private and clean with great balconies and fireplaces. The grounds are peaceful and fun to relax and walk around. The food is delicious! And the staff are friendly. Plenty of very warm blankets plus the fireplace and hot water showers make the cold easy to handle. Our only complaint is the mattresses are a bit uncomfortable but another person may find them fine.

Very chilly days & nights, so the heavy blankets/bedding are a welcome relief. The food was surprisingly excellent! (Speaking Spanish helped!) The grounds are peaceful and fun to stroll. About 10 minutes to El Rosario butterfly sanctuary by car.
