Great place to stay and enjoy the wintering butterflies at the local sanctuaries! Make sure to bring cash as the nearest ATM was hit or miss in terms of functionality.

Nuestra estancia fue muy agradable. La comida del restaurante estuvo súper! Las comidas y bebidas muy hogareñas y todo muy delicioso y el servicio rápido. Todo fue muy bueno, todo el servicio al tanto de lo que ocupábamos. Eramos 5 (4 adultos y 1 niño) y el cuarto que nos tocó era para 6 personas… tuvimos mas espacio del que ocupamos; los cuartos y camas cómodas. Desafortunadamente nos llovió los dos días y estuvo muy frío para subir al santuario, pero eso sólo nos da razón para regresar en el futuro. Gracias a todos de Rancho Cubre Monarca por darnos esta bonita experiencia!!

We had a pleasant time at the Rancho. Easy to find and fun to explore. The staff were really helpful and nice. It was cold during our stay but we had a fire lit in our room. It is a very convenient place for the monarch sanctuary as well as going out for hikes and walks.

This is a magical little place with chickens (and cute little chicks!), friendly ducks (sat next to us during our outdoor dining) and some sheep. The place is surrounded by a tall barrier wall which looks imposing from the outside, but once inside, its a little slice of peaceful paradise. It got cold at night, so our host built us a fire in the super quaint fireplace in our room (wood was 150 pesos), taking the chill out of the evening. The location is VERY close to the butterfly reserve. Food was really decent: simple local dishes with fresh ingredients from the area, including eggs from the ranch itself. Make sure to bring pesos up here. They don’t take credit cards or change USD for food/drink. Overall, a great experience with super friendly, Spanish-speaking staff. Would recommend for anyone looking for an authentic local place to stay when heading up to the monarch reserve.

un lugar un tanto rústico. no con muchos lujos, pero si muy tranquilo, muchas naturaleza, excelente atención, muy familiar y calida.
