Lovely antique home with a lot of history inside and out. Not only is the inside of the house full of wonders and interesting architectural details, but the scenic backyard along the Hudson River is breathtaking. The host is extremely accommodating and is available quite often for any questions. Needs a little maintenance but the homeowner is upfront about any necessary items as remodeling work progresses. The only downside is that the surrounding neighborhood seem to be unkempt, perhaps due to the proximity of the prison? Either way it was a lovely stay and would absolutely re-rent again.

We came to NY for my sister's wedding. We had family coming from FL and OR (we're from MA) and thought it'd be great for us to stay someplace together for quality family time. This way we could also have local NY family visit for meals and there'd be enough room for everyone. It was great having a dining room where we could enjoy meals together. The house is a beautiful, historical place with amazing views of the Hudson River in a lovely, quiet neighborhood. We loved having the fireplace in the living room, and as the weather got nicer during our brief stay we spent lots of time outside on both the back deck in the evenings where we watched the ferries and the beautiful sunsets, and the front porch in the mornings - a lovely place to sit, enjoy a cup of coffee and views of the neighborhood. Jeff was very responsive when we had questions. We're so grateful for his warm hospitality. Although not likely, if we did have occasion to come back we'd most definitely enjoy another stay here.

We really enjoyed our stay at this historic mansion! Jeff was incredible to work with, extremely generous, and quick to respond. It was a bit like staying in a museum; every day we discovered something new (old) and wonderful. The age and historicity of this home can be a bonus or a drawback, depending on your perspective. This may not be the home for you if you have small children (lots of breakables) or a condition that makes using stairs difficult. Note that all four bedrooms and the two full bathrooms are located on the second story and the stairways are typical of the era (narrow steps). One upstairs bathroom is shared Jack-and-Jill style between the two King bedrooms. The only bathroom on the main level is a very tiny half bath/powder room. Two+ parking spaces in the shared driveway were helpful as street parking fills up. The view of the Hudson River from the back of the house was beautiful and we even spotted a groundhog in the neighbor's yard.

I would definitely recommend staying at Jeff’s place! The house is very large, well decorated, features and amazing view, and has lots of interesting nooks and artifacts throughout (e.g., vintage pipe collection atop an antique safe). I used this home to host a group of visiting friends and family for a dinner party, and it was perfect.
