The house from 1803 is considered to be one of the most important sites of cultural heritage in the southern parts of Pohorje and the Dravinja Valley. It was built in a transitional design between the late medieval smokehouse and a more advanced house with a black kitchen. It is located in the village of Skomarje, which is among the highest Slovenian villages in which farming is still the main occupation. It also hosts numerous wonderful sites of cultural and natural heritage. The traditional smokehouse design is best preserved in the big kitchen, which contains a fireplace with a big stove. It is this part of the building that is the most interesting: the inner corner of the living room (called "h∂jša") pushes into the room, basically extending the kitchen stove into the bread oven. This already indicates more modern building methods employing black kitchens.The Skomarje House hosts numerous cultural events, such as the monthly literature meetings organized by the local cultural society ("KUD Vladko Mohorič") from Zreče.
Visit of Ošlak's forge (approx. 5km)
Ošlak's forge was built in 1770 and remains one of the rare well preserved blacksmith haritage. The main mechanism is driven by two water wheels, the main room of the building is a blacksmith workplace while the smaller place presents a room of materials and products. The interior preserves many interesting water driven preparations such as sledgehammer and brush.
