Oil central heating, electricity and bed linen and Wi-Fi included. Large, lawned garden with sitting-out area and garden furniture. Bike store. Private parking for 2 cars. No smoking. . Located in the charming village of Church Enstone, this traditional family country bolthole built in the late 1800s is set in a beautiful large garden close to the popular village pub. It is ideal for families and couples alike wanting to get away from it all in this quiet setting but situated only 5 miles from Chipping Norton, a popular market town. This is a great place to stay to explore the typically English countryside that is the Cotswolds with its quaint villages and open views. For larger towns and cities, you can visit Oxford, Banbury and Stratford-upon-Avon which are all a short distance away. This area is also ideal for walking and cycling and visiting the many historic gardens, houses and ancient sites of the National Trust. Shop ¾ mile, pub 100 yards and restaurant 5 miles. We stayed for a weekend, and the location was beautiful and accessible to local places of interest. There were however some issues which I think the host should address. Pros first: Gorgeous garden, lovely breakfast room. Warm and cosy. Clean linen, towels and carpets. Three of the four mattresses were comfy. Good selection of boardgames and books... Well-stocked kitchen. When we realised there were only 3 towels for 4 women, I texted the house manager and he fixed it the next day. Cons: Poor communication before we arrived. The lane is so narrow that it is impossible to turn into the drive in some cars. We had to park up the road. The main bedroom is NOT PRIVATE, because the only way to exit the top bedroom is walking through the main one. The main bedroom mattress is uncomfortable and old. There is only one shower in the top ensuite and it is TINY. The main bathroom only has a bath. The water pressure wasn't great. No mixer taps... It's 2024! We didn't use the TV, but it is small.
Beautiful cottage in lovely surroundings, everything you need , like a home from home . Kate the host is great , very helpful , I couldn’t recommend the cottage enough
The cottage is exactly what you want for a countryside getaway. Great place!
Overall we were very happy with the accommodation and the location. The cottage was as described and had a lot of character. A great locatoin for walking, cycling & pubs. The only issue we had was that the property could have been aired a little more before we arrived and some of the insects given a chance to escape into the wild! The caretaker was very responsive though and this didn't really spoil the weekend.
Communication with cottages,com was dire but once we had details for the caretaker they were friendly and helpful and both caretaker and the housekeeper went above and beyond. Great location and beautiful house although there are a few issues which need attention such as the leak in the conservatory and the banister on the first set of stairs.
