Hi my name is Parichart. Everyone calls me Nui. They said my real name is too long and difficult to pronounce. I used to lived and worked in Bangkok more than30 years. Now I am back to my hometown and I am stay at "Baan SongJum" , my birthplace. No one lives in this house for 4 years so I though I have to maintain and renovated this house. People always asked what does it mean "BaanSongJum" . The meaning is House of Good Memories. Why's that? Because this house has a long histories of one gentleman from Shan State Burma. My grandfather who built this house . He used to work in the jungle north of Thailand and Burma with his British company. He loved wood special Teak . All house is man made and use only axe to curve all pillars. Every year student from Chiangmai University comes to see my house. Because BaanSongJum was one of the Lanna Teak wood house in Chiangmai. Main house is big and made by teak wood . Guests allow to see the structure of the house and I will show all the pillars and photos of my grand parents in old days in the jungle . And I will tell the stories of the houses and Wat Ket our area. Now I change private house to be Homestay for people who come to visit Chiangmai feel comfortable like stay with friend. Every guest can relax and take their breakfast when they wake up . And feel like they are in comfortable place and good feelings. The most attractive is our big garden which is full with big trees and many green plant. Mostly our trees are local fruits like Lumyai , mango, banana. All fruits attract many animals like bats, birds, squirrels and many insects. Not so many house has fruit trees in our area so lots of squirrels come to my place. It is routine for me to give fruits to all animals to eat when fruit is out of season. Some of them stay in the ceiling of the wooden house. So it is common to see squirrels run across the roofs or sound of many birds in the morning. Some of our guests said my place likes oasis or countryside in big city. About our business: I like to explain about my house and house rules. Baan SongJum is in residential area which mean I stay here same compound with guests. Baan SongJum is not a hotel and our service is not as hotel. The way of living here likes local Chiangmai livings. That is why we call ourselves “ HOMESTAY “. My place is not hotel we cannot service like hotel. My place is a place for guests who want to stay with locals and see how local livings here like the old days. We can tell you about my city, cultures, tips, some folklores , stories likes some places never tell. Breakfast is start 6.30 in the morning. We put all food and fruits on the table.If some guests woke up late they have to look for their breakfast in the fridge in the kitchen . Guest can buy food from outside and used our kitchen equipment. Also guest can cook some easy meals like soups or salads or easy stir fry. And clean after eating. Coffee and tea we provide to guests all day. Please remember Chiangmai, Thailand is in tropical we have mosquitoes and other insects guest should not open their rooms during the day and Our windows we have mosquitoes screen and we provide insect repellent for guests too. About laundry service we have washing machine and guest have to hang dry in the sun and we have provide space in open air and hangers. Laundry Is charged 50 Thai Bt. per load (10 kg.) We do not have dry machine for cloths. But in our area we have laundry shop which wash and iron service too.
