Loved the view and the peaceful surroundings. Was a great stop on our way to isle of syke and a much needed relaxing night. Ate dinner there and the food was also amazing. Highly recommend.

My husband & I, along with our fur pup stayed for 2 nights at Elas place as a total retreat/ recharge our batteries kind of break. I would like to give an honest review of our whole experience as I feel this really helps others understanding before booking. When we arrived, the setting and location is simply stunning and breathtaking. The property is at the end of a lane so there are other properties around, however, as the property is at the end, it’s very private, especially looking out to the lake. Checkin - the male manager, Alexandria, was extremely friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable and helpful. The property is more of a boutique hotel with shared lounge, kitchen, dining room, conservatory. Afternoon tea is provided complimentary on arrival between 4&5 - a nice arrival touch! We had the new garden suite - this has private access as apposed to via the main house. Our room was rather disappointing if I’m being honest, we paid a lot of money for this staycation and I feel we did not receive the value for money at all. The room was rather small and claustrophobic. A lot of ornaments and not very relaxing, a very out there atmosphere. The bathroom was lovely, a big shower with towels, shampoo, body wash, dressing gowns and slippers provided. Our room was below the spa & outdoor jacuzzi - meaning the room felt damp (there were damp patches all down the wall) and the noise was very loud when the jacuzzi was on. The boilers were also next to the room making it noisy through the night. The room was very cold - there were electric blankets but was still cold. There were no windows to open to let air in either. There’s no tv in the room, only in the lounge area. The spa & jacuzzi is open 5-10pm and available for all guests to use. I had rang up a couple of days before arrival to request a massage, sadly this was fully booked and unavailable, I didn’t see anyone having one though. On the first night, we opted for the 3 course meal. This was £45pp - the food was amazing, however, the wine list is very expensive. £50 for a cheaper bottle, a glass was £12!! My husband wanted a beer and was told there’s no beer left at all, however the manager got him one from his place, still charged £4.50. Continental breakfast is included, the choice was average, nothing out of the ordinary. Overall, this place is amazing for its views, however, value for money internally, I think there’s lots of room for improvement.
