This beachfront house is newly constructed of beautiful tropical hardwoods and overlooks Cabo Matapalo's famous right hand point beak. Fall asleep to the dreamy sound of waves tumbling on the beach and wake up to a symphony of tropical birds singing in the morning. This is one of the few homes in the area with a refreshing ocean breeze as well as large flocks of scarlet macaws who frequent surrounding almond trees. Whales, dolphins, and sea turtles are also commonly sighted from Matapalo beach. Pieza Paraiso has excellent drinking water from a state of the art water purification system. We are off the grid 100% , A reliable solar system powers our three casas . The caretaker/ host live on the property in their own casa. They are ready to assist our guests 24/7 . Our guests can cook meals themselves in our fully equipped kitchen or hire a local chef to cook meals for $10 per plate. This is the chef cooking the food the guest purchases and transports to the rental house. We will provide a recommended grocery list of typical Osa Costa Rican foods.

My husband and I stayed close to a month at Ted’s home on the ocean in Matapalo. The home was quiet, peaceful, and had everything we needed to be comfortable on our personal retreat. Ted made sure the kitchen was stocked with some essentials (oil, s&p, foil and some spices) and generously helped us out when we needed to get groceries from town (which is an hours drive and we did not have a car, so we stocked up before heading to the house). We enjoyed the tidal pools on our mostly secluded beach, watching the tide change throughout the day and the swimming beaches which are an enjoyable short walk away. There’s a resort with a decent restaurant nearby that was nice when we wanted to change of pace, which wasn’t often! We enjoyed being at the house immensely, just taking in the beautiful surroundings, the birds, occasional monkeys, the sound of the surf and changing light. Great sunrises, too! If you’re looking for a friendly and quiet, remote spot, or are an avid surfer, stay here!

Great getaway in the Osa Peninsula! Saw amazing wildlife (squirrel monkey, scarlet macaws) and was fun having the beach at a walking distance!

Ce logement est un vrai paradis. C’est un joyau qui se situe dans un cadre incroyable ! Entouré par une multitude d’animaux (perroquets, singes,…) ce logement est un paradis pour les amoureux de la nature. Une vue magnifique sur une des plus belles plages du Costa Rica. Nous étions comme seuls au monde dans une maison que nous ne voulions pas quitter. Ted est un super hôte. Il est très accueillant et donne de très nombreux conseils pour que l’on puisse profiter au mieux du logement. Comme il est mentionné dans certains commentaires, n’ayez pas peur de faire de la piste en 4x4 pour atteindre ce paradis hors des sentiers battus. Logement coup de cœur.

The Osa Peninsula. National Geographic has called it "the most biologically intense place on Earth in terms of biodiversity." This small peninsula is host to almost half of Costa Rica’s 860 species of birds (that is almost 5% of the world’s species!), 140 species of mammals, and 117 species of reptiles and amphibians. Almost 750 species of trees have been cataloged in the area, more trees than in all of the North temperate regions of the world combined.
Located in Cabo Matapalo, the south-east cape of the Osa, Pieza Paraíso is a beachfront plot of land with two newly constructed vacation rental homes. as well as a caretaker home. Looking out from the beach you can see clear across the Golfo Dulce to the northwestern corner of Panama. The Golfo Dulce is one of only four tropical fjords on the planet. It is the only place in the world where populations of both Northern and Southern Humpback whales meet to birth their young.
Due to its remote and underdeveloped location, Pieza Paraiso offers an “off the beaten path” vacation experience. A reliable off grid solar panel system powers the houses as well as a state of the art water purification system. Pieza Paraiso is one of the few properties with a cool and consistent ocean breeze. Enjoy the tranquility of your own private beach as well as a variety of tropical fruits grow on the property.
Within Cabo Matapalo there are several secluded beaches, coves, and tidal pools to explore all within a short walking distance from Pieza Paraiso. World class surfing, fishing, kayaking, snorkeling, and SUP are some common ocean activities practiced in the area. There are also some amazing rain forest trails as well as the incredible King Louis waterfall within a short walking distance from Pieza Paraiso.

We would like to emphasize that visiting Cabo Matapalo is a truly off the beaten path experience. Part of this means that the road conditions can be rough. If you choose to travel via rental car we recommend you rent a 4x4 SUV with decent clearance.
Another option is to take a taxi from Puerto Jimenez to the house. We would be happy to recommend a reliable taxi service.
