The property and it's surrounds aim to conserve/restore local wildlife and biodiversity, therefore expect to see evidence of foxes, pheasants, mallards, frogs and a variety of insects. Please be aware that there are wild ponds on the property and children must be supervised at all times. During the summer months the property is only available to rent for a minimum stay of a week, with check-in on saturday only.
Our family had a wonderful time in August in this house. We were a group ranging from 70 years of age to 7 weeks. The accomodation betwen the two houses was spacious with practical and comfortable furnishings. The beds were very comfortable. The property is completely private. The gardens are extensive and include 2 ponds. It wasn't suitable to leave the children (all under 7) unattended, but once they were supervised they had a great time exploring and running around. Our host Muireann was a pleasure to deal with. Her surprise of local treats was much appreciated.. We would recommend this house for a family group.
Very good location to explore west cork. Ballydehob music nights, pubs are close by, Skibbereen shops and museums also nearbye too. Twelve guests stayed for a week and visited many beautiful places. Lots of local walks possible too. The host was super helpful and professional. The houses were spacious and well equipped. Just walking around the grounds was a simple and pleasant experience. If you want a peaceful authentic location away from the tourists but within easy access to all of west corks splendour, then its highly recommended.
We had a wonderful stay at Willow Tree Cottage. A homely, comfortable home with great atmosphere and energy..! We loved it, young and old!
A lovely property, a lovely host. It was perfect for our annual company retreat and showing our global team a glimpse of West Cork! The house had everything we could possibly need! Would reccomend 100%! The gardens are amazing and full of amazing walking trails! 10 minute walk from a lovely beach and the sunset view of Mt Gabriel was amazing! The host was always reachable and made our stay stress free!
A lovely property in a great location. The house has a large living room that all of us could eat in together ( ten adults and two toddlers) and the grounds were enjoyed by all. There is a short walk to a cove for a swim which we did many times. Ballydehob and Schull nearby are great for coffee, lunch and playgrounds.
Located on the Wild Atlantic Way, with pebble beaches and scenic coastline within walking distance, the area really is a nature lovers paradise. West Cork boasts sandy beaches, forestry, wild coastlines and mountains, historical sites, walkways and lakes, various festivals, lively farmers markets, music venues and much more, with something for all tastes within driving distance.
The nearby village of Ballydehob has excellent cafes and restaurants (one of which has a Michelin star) and lively music venues. The market town of Skibbereen is nearby with several supermarkets and shops. The village of Schull is home to Irelands only planetarium and a sailing centre.
As the property is set in a rural area and public transport is minimal, a car is recommended.
Taxis are available locally.
Approx. driving times from the property -
Ballydehob 5 minutes
Skibbereen 12 minutes
Schull 15 minutes
From Cork Airport the drive to the cottage takes approx. an hour and a half.
If you like to walk there are plenty of walking trails in the area!
