The Wild Turkey Inn is located three blocks from Rossland’s main street. In this downtown area, you will find a number of boutique stores and restaurants. Visit The Alpine Grind or Seven Summits Coffee, Hooper’s Bakery, The Rossland Beer Company, or The Flying Steamshovel Pub, amongst many others, for wonderful small town experiences. Ferraro Foods is our local grocery store. We can’t say enough about this place. It’s probably better stocked with gourmet ingredients than most grocers in large urban centres. Check out the Rossland Museum & Discovery Centre and the town’s heritage buildings to learn more about the history of this area.
Red Mountain is a hidden gem of a ski hill and is a mere ten-minute drive away. The powder is dry and the glade skiing is epic. From Red, you can jump on the Mt. Kirkup Cat to access slackcountry terrain for only $10. Check out Big Red Cats to access more remote lift-free skiing, or if you are skilled in backcountry travel, talk to us about the local ski touring spots. The Black Jack Cross-Country Ski Club maintains over 40km of scenic ski terrain and is also a ten minute drive away (across from Red Mountain).
The surrounding area is criss-crossed with mountain bike trails for all levels of riders, including the legendary Seven Summits trail. The Redstone Resort golf course is a true mountain course and is a five minute drive from our house. Ski, hike, bike, golf, shop, dine, learn the history, view the wildlife... it’s all here!
There are a number of small towns and attractions worth visiting within a two hour drive. These include: Trail, Nelson, Whitewater Ski Resort, Kaslo, Creston, Ainsworth Hotsprings, Christina Lake, the Slocan Valley, and Greenwood. Rossland is part of the ski resort focused Powder Highway and the birding and historical Selkirk Loop.
Spokane, Washington is a 2.5 hour drive from here and has the closest international airport. Trail and Castlegar both boast regional airports about 30 minutes away. Kelowna has the nearest Canadian international airport and is 3.5 hours away.
Do the 7-8 hour drive from Vancouver, Calgary, or Seattle and feel like you’ve truly escaped the big city (trust us, we did it!).

Rossland is a small town with a population of approximately 3700. The downtown area is a five to ten minute walk away. There is one hill to climb back to the house, so you are advised to wear sturdy boots in wintertime.
Red Mountain is a 5-10 minute drive away. If you prefer not to drive, the Rossland B-Line Ski Shuttle runs daily from the downtown core and a single ride costs only $3. You can also organize a private shuttle through Kootenay Gateway or hire a taxi for approximately $20.
