Perched atop a quaint hill, The Mudhouse is surrounded by the spectacular landscapes of Sahayadri, offering an epic panorama of the valley of Marayoor. Close to the treasured Sandalwood forest and Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary. Here, time moves unhurriedly, slowly painting the sky a different hue each passing hour. The eco-friendly constructed cottages and treehouse reflect barefoot luxury, helping you stay rooted to Earth but still be close to Heaven. The Mudhouse is a tranquil destination where one can unwind and be one with nature. Made out of mud, coconut leaves and other sustainable materials, The mudhouse is a passion project that came out of the need to live and encourage sustainable living practices. Practicality has limited us from going to some extends but the property will always be a work in progress towards being closer to nature. The Mudhouse offers 4 mud cottages and a treehouse. The cottages open to a garden where one can sit, relax and enjoy the beautiful mountain view. The property also has a kitchen, common dining area and lounge where the guests can have their food or play games. Guests can also opt to have BBQ and campfire in the evening. The property also contains a free parking area within its premises.

We loved our stay at the mud hut. Ambily was particularly accommodating and friendly. She made us feel right at home. The surroundings were beautiful and the food was delicious. The mud huts themselves were far more beautiful than we expected. I want to go back to kerala just for these mud huts!

The Mudhouse is something I would definitely recommend to all travelers how wants to slow down and enjoy the beautiful surroundings as well as a picture perfect accommodation. The place has so much charm and you can really feel and see all the beautiful details are very well throughout. I love beautiful thing and this place is magical. The staff was very friendly and nice and they seemed very happy. Devi is very caring and the food is amazing. Deepak is an amazing host and told us so much about the area and there place. He will definitely do all he can to make your stay as comfortable as possible as well as all the staff. It is a family business and you can just feel the love they have for place. I do not think there is any place like this one so treat your self and experience it for yourself. I will definitely come here again even though it is very far from my home.
The Mudhouse exceeded our expectations. The staff were so friendly and attentive from the moment we arrived. Food was amazing, we left every meal very full. Special mention to Ambily who was funny, informative and lovely. She gave us honest information and advice on what to do. The setting is beautiful, the garden is well tended and everything was geared towards guests comfortable. The room was cool and spacious and really tastefully decorated. The outdoor shower was a treat. The various seating areas outside, listening to the birds, cows and just watching the landscape was so peaceful. The Mudhouse is quite far from Munnar but in the landscape, in our opinion, is much better over that side of the hill so the journey is worth it! We had an excellent driver, Pradeep who the Mudhouse recommended. He drove us on to Mountain Cottage at Vagamon. It was a a very special place and wish we could have stayed longer!

Visit us to have a slow vacation. Spend your days lazing, watching the mist hovering over the mountains. On a warm day, watch the birds roaming the skies and life springing up all around you.
A 10 minutes hike from the property through a forest trail will take you to a view point from where one can enjoy a 360 degree view of the agricultural valley of Marayoor. Explore the wilderness and even catch a glimpse of deers and bison grazing.
A 40 minutes hike from the property beside a canal will take you to a river hidden in the forest. Take your book or even have a picnic (without littering ofcourse). One can also take a dip in the crystal like water and fall in love with the peacefulness of it all.
In the evening, ride through the village on the cycles provided at the property. If you're late, you might even get a glimpse of a swarm (sparkle) of fireflies in the fields nearby.
For those wishing to just stay and laze at our property, we have a tiny collection of books and board games that you can peruse at your convenience.
Thoovanam waterfalls, a stunning cascade inside Chinnar wildlife sanctuary is just 20 minutes away from the property. Go on a drive to visit Anamudi Peak, Chinnar or the centuries old, Muniyara.
We can help with arranging cabs or autos for sightseeing.
Free parking is available within the premises. Marayoor town is 5 Kms from the property. Public transportation will be available from there. One can also hail an autorikshaw or cab.
