A lovely house in the centre of Oakham which suited us perfectly for a family weekend. Quiet street, easy parking and a 2 minute walk to the high Street.
Lovely quiet and very convenient
A truly delightful stay in Oakham! Gail & Mark are perfect hosts; they are so helpful, they provide an abundance of good local info, and they are very gracious in answering questions. The house is immaculately clean, the beds are super-comfy, the shower is lovely, the cereal is a kind & thoughtful extra (and greatly appreciated). We also loved the location; a quiet street, yet so near to everything: pubs, takeaways, a Tesco, train station, bus station, etc. I’d love to stay here if in Oakham again.
Another very relaxing and enjoyable stay for us at lovely Fennel House. Beautiful cottage with everything you need and perfect location in the heart of town but also very quiet and peaceful. We look forward to staying again!
Lovely little cottage with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Parking permit provided and nice to have breakfast cereals, tea and coffee provided.

自我介绍
We love Oakham and hope to retire here one day. Mark rented the house out when he moved to Bedford where we met 20 years ago. We visited and stayed with mum most weekends but sadly she passed in 2018 and we had nowhere to stay. Not only did we miss mum immensely, we also missed the walks and cycle rides around Rutland water, eating and drinking at our favourite pubs and restaurants and visiting the rest of the family. When our lovely tennant gave notice we decided to make it our home again for when we want to visit and in the meantime share it with others so they can enjoy Oakham as much as we do. We both love travel and adventures and every 10 years we quit our jobs and do something crazy with our savings. We ran a ski chalet in France for the season, walked across Northern Spain, the Camino De Santiago, bought a campervan and did a road trip around Europe for three months. We then backpacked for 15 months in India, SEA, Australia and New Zealand. We hope to do South America next but we will have to see.
