Unser Aufenthalt im Haus von Karin in Gordons Bay war eine wunderbare Erfahrung. Das Haus liegt ideal – nahe genug an Supermärkten und anderen Annehmlichkeiten, während es zugleich nur 45 Minuten von Stellenbosch und Kapstadt entfernt ist. Dies machte es zum perfekten Ausgangspunkt für unseren einmonatigen Aufenthalt in Südafrika.Das Haus selbst ist äußerst kinderfreundlich, was es für uns als Familie mit einem kleinen Kind ideal machte. Die Ausstattung des Hauses ließ keine Wünsche offen: Ein Top-Pool, eine große Terrasse mit Grill und eine herrliche Aussicht, die dazu einlädt, die Zeit in vollen Zügen zu genießen.Karin war eine hervorragende Gastgeberin, immer hilfsbereit und aufmerksam. Wir fühlten uns in ihrem Haus rundum wohl und können einen Aufenthalt hier wärmstens empfehlen. Vielen Dank für einen unvergesslichen Monat in diesem wunderschönen Zuhause!

Perfect house, everything you need is there. The view from the terrace is magnificent, we never tire of using the barbecue and eating on the terrace facing the sunset. 2 min by car from the beach, several restaurants are also 2 min away. As for Karine the owner, she is always available if needed.

First of all we want to thank Karin for the lovely time we had at her place and with her. If we just had to say three words about our stay: it was perfect. We came to South Africa for family purposes and lived for nearly two month in Karine’s house. She gave us every advice we needed in order to find our way, either looking for places to go to or when we needed to understand the rules and administrative challenges of South Africa. As she lives next door, with a parrot and turtles, most of the questions we had were resolved in a minute, and often we had the opportunity to have a simple chat with her: she taught us many more things than we could have thought about. Of course the turtles, the parrot, the beautiful garden of her house as well as the very tasteful paintings, photographs and the furniture make the place a real place to stay, to live and to love. Our daughter was so happy to see Karin every day that she wanted her to come with us back to France when we left… In the house everything is on one floor, including the terrasse and the pool, very spacious. The main sleeping room is linked to the big bathroom with a superb bathtub, the smaller bedroom is next to another bathroom with a shower. In between is the huge livingroom/kitchen. Everything in the house works fine – from wifi to warm water - and if there is a problem Karin tries to fix it as soon as possible. Once a week the house is cleaned by a professional and very friendly maid. Of course one of the big enjoyments of the house is its pool, Karin checks every day that it is clean. She also comes for a swim from time to time, which is another possibility to have a chat and exchange information. The probably most spectacular quality of the place is its view! Anybody who likes views will be simply blown away: it’s a 180° seaview with the most gorgeous atmospheres, changing every day, every hour, and if the weather is fine you will have sunsets 365 days a year. We have been in the house during the summer, we had entire weeks with beautiful weather and sunsets. Gordon’s Bay, as it is facing the huge False Bay, regularly has windy days. This enhances the variety of possible visual effects on the sea even more. The wind might sometimes be too much for people not used to it, but it is nice when you’re looking for a place that is not too hot in summer. Let’s finish this review with some of the touristic possibilities around Gordon’s Bay. As we were there with our daughter we particularly enjoyed the numerous beaches: they all are nice to play on or to swim, and they are clean. There is also a nice hiking path in the mountain above the house. Gordon’s Bay is a very simple and cosy little place with no big boulevards and no big buildings, only nice little shops, restaurants and takeaways along the seaside. Of course whale watching, penguins and beaches ideal for surfers are not far away. Those who look for Wineries will not be disappointed either: Stellenbosch being at 45 minutes drive, the nearest wineries are 20 minutes away. They are all exceptional places, most of them have luxurious but affordable restaurants. For those who plan to go to Cape Town at times, it takes 50 minutes from the house to the Waterfront. We also must mention that security has never been an issue during our stay. Neither the house, its surroundings nor Gordon’s Bay are places where you have to feel scared of natural or human threats. On the contrary, all the people we met were relaxed, friendly and ready to help us when we needed some support!
