The home is located in the Pike National Forest between Deckers and Woodland Park in unincorporated West Creek. For a more detailed look, search on Maps for 14964 N Pine Lake Dr, Woodland Park, CO 80863. If you zoom in and choose 'satellite' you can see the lake; we're near the north end of the lake on the eastern shore near the spillway. 2. Is the property pet friendly? Yes, we allow pets, so BRING YOUR PETS! 3. Where is the nearest store? Woodland Park has real stores, including a supermarket. Deckers (north of the house) is closer and has a convenience store, restaurant and bait shop. Like we said, this is real Colorado not tourist Colorado! 4. Where can we fish? Manitou Lake in Manitou Lake Park (7 miles away), Cheesman Reservoir (15 miles away), or, for serious fly fishing, the South Platte River (multiple sites.) 5. What's your favorite hike? If you situate yourself well in this area, you can look out over miles of wilderness -- land appearing exactly as it did 500 years ago. We strongly recommend tramping around the lake. You'll see a variety of wildlife, including an abundance of local and migratory birds. Douglas County STR Permit #
Our stay at the cabin was simply great. The house was well equipped with cooking utensils, dishes and cookware. We found the beds comfortable, though the couch in the front room was a bit uncomfortable. Parking was the only issue; there are only two parking spots, and the host asked that we not park anywhere else on the property due to potentially damaging the septic field. We were two couples staying a whole month, and each had a vehicle—so during the month when friends visited from nearby Colorado towns, they had nowhere to park. We solved the issue by parking one vehicle for several days at one of the campgrounds near Woodland Park, but it would be MUCH more convenient if more parking was available at the cabin. Nonetheless, we enjoyed our stay.
If I could take the lake with me I would have. The lake was clear as glass. There were geese that I had fun watching. I saw a crane on the grass next to the lake right in front of the cabin. I absolutely loved the wildlife. It was peaceful, serene, and it relaxed me. I’ve always dreamed of retiring and living next to a lake and writing. The water straight out of tap also tasted good. I just loved that lake so much and it it was soothing. I can’t say enough about it, it would take a book!
The beds are the most uncomfortable beds I’ve ever slept in I have a sore back and a lot of nights the floor was more comfortable. I saw a review about this before they have not switched out. There also is a heater that’s always on and with not being able to turn the heater off it become a nightmare and you just sweat and sweat. They know this and provide little space heaters that also are fans and box fans but that’s not enough to combat it. The beds are the deal breaker. You also can’t touch the lake due to not being a resident which every other review is there. The spot your renting is in a spot where there are A ton of people who park their vehicle right out front of the cabin no privacy the blinds and windows are all open and you will be seen changing ect strongly recommend against this cabin it’s not private you will have people everywhere around you 24/7 beds are terrible house smells. Oh and the internet speeds are advertised as 20mbs you would get lucky if you get 1 mbs the internet is not up to standards not good for work couldn’t stream Netflix or do anything meaningful. It honestly was a miserable stay. No cellphone service at all for at least 30-40 min to the closest city.
