Our house is a wonderful place to enjoy being on a lake. You will be staying in our home where we live with our cat when we do not have airbnb guests. When we have guests, we live in a tiny house in the backyard and are available if needed. There is no landline but cell phone service is good. Internet is sometimes slow. It is not a good fit for large groups who are noisy or families with very energetic children because we have close neighbours who enjoy peace and quiet. This is a beautiful house on Lower Beverly Lake, forty minutes from Kingston, Ontario, and an hour and a half from Ottawa. It is a perfect place for a quiet family retreat. There is a full size deck with barbecue. The house is fifty feet from the shore and dock with a beautiful green lawn and a outdoor fire pit. Canoes, kayaks, stand up paddle boards, pedal boat and a rowboat, which can be used for fishing, are all available at no cost. Adult and children's lifejackets are provided. You can swim in the beautiful clear water by rowing out past the lakeshore weeds to a raft. There is a small sandy beach and wading area for kids. The tastefully decorated house has a main floor with one bedroom with hotel quality queen bed, full bath with soaking tub and walk-in shower. Enjoy a gas fireplace with beautiful ledge stone surround and lake view. Large fully equipped kitchen with gas range and island with seating for two. There is also room to sleep another 4 people in the basement which has one bedroom with a queen bed and one bedroom with two single beds. The basement also has a small kitchenette, living area, and a bathroom with shower. The nearest small town is Lyndhurst, which is ten minutes away. It has a post office, one small convenience store, a great ice cream shop, and two places to eat. Seeley's Bay, Delta, Athens or Elgin are other nearby towns for larger grocery stores and an LCBO. All are about 25 minutes away. There is a lovely market only 10 minutes away where you can buy organic fruits and vegetables, grass fed meats of all kinds, homemade ice cream and much more. There are cottages right next door and the people who live in these cottages come to the lake for peace and quiet. We ask our guests to be respectful of this fact. Our cottage is not a good choice for those who want a place where they can play loud music or have loud gatherings around the campfire. The setting is beautiful. Loons and herons, beavers and ospreys are regular visitors. You may also see an occasional bald eagle. Charleston Lake Provincial Park, where you will find great hiking trails and a sandy beach, is only a 20 minute drive. There is also a small park just 5 minutes away with a sandy beach and playground. There is a small entry fee at both parks. Thousand Islands boat tours are available at Gananoque which is only 45 minutes from the house.
