If you stay at the B&B, try the wine tasting tour with Becca for sure. She is very knowledgeable and it was one of the best tours, I have ever had. The place is surrounded by vineyards and the pond at the center gives a great experience of staying in the nature. You don't have to plan anything, you could take walks around the property or there is a hike close by. Pismo and Avila beach are just 10 miles away, and so is downtown SLO with it's amazing food. The whole bunch are very thoughtful, right from catering your breakfast specifications, to having a safe check in during covid.
This is an incredible place. A lot of thoughtful touches, super clean, an amazing mexican artwork everywhere, great amenities (e.g. wine glasses were Riedel). Highly recommend!
Lovely setting with well-defined rooms. The breakfast had everything our family of 4 liked. The horses are a great attraction - all of us enjoyed feeding them carrots. Evening under the stars, by the fireplace! Highly recommend.
The Ranch is beautiful, and the scenery is breath-taking. I only wish we could've stayed another day to really take in the view and enjoy the grounds.
Originally, La Lomita Ranch was part of the Mexican land grant, Rancho Corral de Piedra, a 30,911-acre given in 1841 by Governor Juan B. Alvarado to José María Villavicencio. The grant was located between present day San Luis Obispo and Arroyo Grande, and bounded on the south by Arroyo Grande Creek. When José María Villavicencio died in 1853, he left the ranch to his seven children. In 1866, Rodríguez convinced the heirs to sell him the entire rancho, which he sold to dairyman George Steele and his brothers Edgar W., Isaac C., and Rensselaer E. Steele. Eventually 700 acres were purchased and developed by Prince Zourab Tchkotoua and Princess Marieta Salas in the mid-1970s, bringing to San Luis Obispo a world class Arabian Horse Breeding facility. In the mid-1990s the ranch was acquired and subdivided into five parcels, with four of the parcels being acquired and planted as vineyards. The 160 acre parcel with the equine facility remained La Lomita Ranch, and today serves as the gateway to Edna Valley's Central Coast wine region.
