We absolutely loved this classic Maine home. Views were gorgeous, walks to the beach were lovely, and we really took advantage of the opportunity to unplug and enjoy the tv-free, rustic environment. Rebecca was a wonderful and communicative host with great recommendations. Definitely an ideal place to enjoy the stunning Maine coast. Not for people who enjoy high tech, modern amenities and house acoustics do not make for much privacy. We and our kids had a great time and would love to return.

The Red House is just wonderful, and I whole-heartedly recommend staying here! If you're looking for "fancy," or sophisticated, this is not it. -However, if you're looking for seaside charm, good vibes, stunning views, beach access, and plenty of room for your family, you will get all of that and more here. This is a place that you can just tell has absorbed many generations of fun and love, and it was truly wonderful to be a part of that. Before I go on, though, there are a view things you might want to know: There are no locks on the doors (the community is small and safe) and you cannot drink/brush teeth w/ the running water (there are coolers with drinkable water hung next to the sinks). There's also no A/C, but unless you hit an unusually hot time it should be fine with the sea breezes and fans that are provided. If you are okay with all of that, read on: The kitchen was especially nice to cook in- plenty of dishes, appliances, and the stove works well (there is also a very nice, large gas grill on the deck). The dishwasher was a nice feature, too. Every day, we would drive to the South Bristol Fisherman's Coop and buy something fresh and delicious to eat - the new shell lobster and mussels were standouts! The living room is quite charming - the pictures don't do it justice. The downstairs "master" bedroom is very big and pleasant. (The mattress is quite firm FYI.) You could easily fit a pack n play in there if you wanted. There is a bathroom down the hall. Plenty of towels for showers and beach!! The upstairs has 3 bedrooms and can sleep a total of six, with another bathroom that has a nice, newer shower. The basement has a large ping-pong table, which provided hours of fun for our family (who knew we liked ping-pong?). The laundry and garbage is also down there. It's pretty cellar-y down there, not really a finished basement...but fine and functional. On the first floor there is an inside porch, which is kind of like a play area with a "swinging couch." There is an outside porch w/sea views and 2 tables with umbrellas. You can walk across the street to the ocean - the beach front is made up of big rocks and probably not great for little kids. You can also walk an easy 5 minutes to Sand Cove, which is a small sandy/pebbly beach great for swimming and looking for crabs etc or just sitting and looking at the ocean. We met Tim, one of the brothers and owners of the house. He was so nice. I whole-heartedly recommend the Red House and hope to return someday.

The house is charming and well stocked with linens, paper products and a kitchen ready for anything. We loved being able to play on the rocks across the street and the cove around the corner.
