Our family had an incredible time staying at this cottage. The location is spectacular, right on the Erie Canal with a view of the canal and lots of wildlife. We enjoyed seeing dozens of different birds visit the yard, and use the cottage’s birdwatching materials to identify them. Dan set up a fun treasure hunt for our kids to do upon arrival, which they loved. We will definitely stay here again, and will highly recommend it to anyone who e know visiting the area.
Probably a little better in summer when the canal is higher and the trees are green, but overall very peaceful and beautiful. Lots of birds and animals to watch. Would want to come back and try kayaking and other water activities when it’s open.
I stood here previously with my family, and we all absolutely loved our time there. This is beginning to become our favorite yearly place to visit. The location is nearby whatever you need, but secluded enough that you get all the privacy you need. House is clean and has everything you need. Everything is clearly labeled; instructions are simple, and Dan is very responsive. Plus the birds are delightful. what more could we ask for?
The cottage was exactly what we were looking for. Our family of 5 fit well.
We have returned to this place three times now. It is super clean, very peaceful, and has everything you could possibly need. Dan is very kind. He responds quickly and even offered to extend our stay due to bad weather. The bird watching is so relaxing. This place is a welcome retreat any month of the year. Thank you so much for having us!

Hello, I am a lifelong Rochester resident who fell in love with the Erie Canal after motoring a sailboat through its majestic locks to the Hudson River, with my father and brother, in my early 20s. Our family's canal history goes way back, as my father's grandfather was a lock tender at the Waterloo lock. My wife Elizabeth and I became familiar with Airbnb over the past 10 years, as we enjoyed Airbnb rentals while traveling with our 3 boys to their various athletic events, on family trips, while visiting colleges, and now, while visiting our boys in college!
