Staying at Suizaike was indeed an experience to remember for a lifetime - an opportunity to stay on a family farm, perched on a hill overlooking the beautiful turquoise waters of Lago General Carrera and the merging of three major rivers below in Bahia Murta. Ninoska and Werner and their son Alekin were gracious hosts. You stay with them in close quarters in the log cabin home Werner built, sharing a bathroom with their family. There are two rooms available to stay in; one is upstairs and was their daughter's room (who is now studying in Switzerland) and the other one is downstairs off the living room. Rooms have curtains for doors. Ninoska and Werner made homemade media lunas, oatmeal with fruit, homemade jams from locally picked calefate berries and rhubarb, plus other special cakes and deliciously brewed coffee. Milk is delicious and comes from their own cows. One night we requested to have dinner there and Ninoska made a delicious risotto with locally found mushrooms and veggies grown from their garden. They have many animals on the farm; goats, sheep, alpacas, cows, horses, cats, dogs, guinea pigs and chickens. Our kids adored the animals - our toddler could get enough of the dogs, cats and alpacas, he can't stop talking about it. The farm is a hilly 30 minute hike from the parking area. Make sure you pack lightly and in backpacks as your stuff needs to come in on horseback or carried. We made the mistake of coming with suitcases and brought too much stuff - but Werner, Alekin and my husband managed to carry it all in (the horse was missing!) and the horse Navidad carried it all out for us at the end of our stay. Bahia Murta is a about an hour drive to Rio Tranquilo where you'll find the marble caves and expeditions to Laguna San Rafael and the ice fields. Ninoska, Werner and Alekin were very kind and helpful; and wonderful with our children. It was an amazing experience staying with them in Bahia Murta - highly recommend to anyone looking for something unique, we will have memories to last a lifetime from our stay there.

The Suizake is an amazing place. It is an eco lodge and organic farm ran by two truly amazing people. I recommend this to anyone visiting northern Patagonia. Please keep in mind the access is difficult but well worth it once you figure it out- make sure you don't arrive after dark like I did! The hosts are the kindest people on earth and I love them.
