This is the best private cottage I have ever stayed in. I travel the world for my job and stay in 5 star hotels all the time, and it is no exaggeration to say that the quality of every single aspect of Skipper’s Retreat, from the furniture to the amenities to the coffee machine, is of the very highest quality and surpasses most hotels. Everything is brand new and in brand new condition; the owners were extremely welcoming, hospitable and thoughtful, with lots of wonderful touches and regular deliveries of freshly caught seafood, fresh off the boat! TVs in every room, music streaming, Sky Q TV subscription, super high-tech steam room with crazy lighting and Bluetooth speakers so you can play your music, huge whirlpool bathtub, incredible separate shower, top of the range appliances in the kitchen, including a built-in coffee machine to satisfy the most demanding coffee lovers, dinner table for 8, outdoor dining travel and seating with barbecue, electric blinds for every window in the house. Nothing has been overlooked or skimped on. I was guest Nr. 8 since this place was built and will be booking again for next year soon, as it is sure to be booked for months in advance once word gets out. My welcome hamper had coffee beans, tea, biscuits, jams, cookies, bread, butter, milk, water (sparkling and still!) and....gin and tonic and a bottle of wine. And then the seafood, langoustine and prawns and squat lobster, freshly caught that afternoon by the owner (the Skipper of ‘Skipper’s Retreat’) on the first day and then again later in the week! Truly a week in heaven in a beautiful house in a sublime location on a magnificent island.
