The view from Darryl's place can't be beat. Sitting on the deck, in the Adirondack chairs on the front lawn, or in the living room, one sees a gorgeous scene as the light changes over Bass Lake through the day. The location is quite remote and very peaceful. The cabin itself is cheerful. We very much enjoyed the gas fireplace on the chilly nights. The beds and bedding are comfortable and the showers have plenty of hot water and good pressure. Darryl made some helpful suggestions of local activities and had some useful literature in the cabin. The kitchen is adequate but had a few issues which we've suggested Darryl address. One other problem is the lack of storage space for clothing which is a problem when you're there for an extended stay. Having the canoe and kayaks is nice although it's very difficult to get them down and back up the steep bank to Bass Lake. However, the dolly provided made it pretty easy to move them the short distance to Loon Lake.

Darryl’s cabin was absolutely beautiful inside! If I was to design a cabin for myself I would use all of the details that he used! From the dish-ware, couches, beds, to lamps etc, the Adirondacks theme was everywhere and made it such a cozy stay! We enjoyed the view of Bass Lake from the cabin and canoeing on Loon Lake. It was absolutely gorgeous and we so appreciated having access to the canoes and kayaks from Darryl! Not only were we able to relax at the cabin, but we were able to enjoy Lake Placid and all of the countless activities!! With it only being around 50 minutes away, we were able to go multiple times! Our huge highlight from the trip was getting a deal through Legacy Sites to see all of the Olympic locations, (eg. Whiteface Mountain, Bobsledding, and even watching Olympic hopefuls practice ski jumping!!) I would highly recommend Darryl’s cabin to anyone who wants to have a beautiful, peaceful getaway and still be able to enjoy Lake Placid and all its amazing sights.

We've stayed in many places in the ADK and I enjoyed this cabin. The bathrooms were nice and there have been many updates to the place. The bedrooms were bigger than I thought from the pictures. I loved sitting out on the deck and reading while looking at Bass Lake. We used the dolly things provided to take the canoe and kayak to Loon Lake which was lovely. We saw many loons and enjoyed exploring the lake. Very peaceful and relaxing!

Cozy, well-kept house in a very private setting. lots of amenities, including extra blankets, towels, and an eclectic DVD collection. Quick walk to Loon Lake to paddle - definitely do this!

A great place to be in nature and get away. Easy simple living with great amenities to enjoy the setting. Hilly paved roads for running, easy access to water and nice quiet evenings and mornings. We will be back for sure.
