We were greated by Phil on arrival. He gave us a tour of the yurt and amenities. Once we stepped out to the deck and took in the view our immediate reaction was to ask if we could stay a third night. This home is so warm and inviting. It's so peaceful, wonderful for birdwatching and stargazing. Santa Fe is only 25 minutes away for shopping and dining. Phil had many fantastic recommendations and we strongly suggest you listen! We haven't been gone half a day but we miss it already and we miss Phil and Marley and Chili. We are already planning our return visit.
Phil and Cee were incredible hosts. This spot is a hidden gem and we would gladly return a for another visit!

Amazing host! Phil definitely has a passion for hosting and the area. He was proactive by connecting prior to the trip, providing his host book with many recommendations and he continued to be available throughout the stay. He greets you upon arrival, walks you through the yurt and then is available for questions or anything any time. The yurt is definitely something everyone should experience - it was super homey and had amazing views day and night. We just passed by this time, but the next time we make our way to this area we will definitely look to stay at this wonderful yurt. Thanks Phil for the experience - my family loved it!
Phil was a very accommodating, proactive host. He made sure we chatted before I arrived and checked in with me every day to ensure I felt safe and cared for. The yurt is on a dirt road so he suggested getting an AWD vehicle in case snow made it difficult to get to. He encouraged drinking electrolytes to lessen the impact of elevation change. Chili, one of the big friendly dogs, came by each day for a treat. The yurt itself was warm and cozy and decently close to Galisteo. If the weather was warmer, the porch would have been a treat to spend time on.

After fifty years in the film industry as a cinematographer, I finally hung up my hat and retired, but now I'm able to focus on my still photography. My passions and interests are varied: travel, music, food, reading, and studying the diverse cultures in New Mexico and the world. My wife Cee and I moved to NM because we were drawn by the dramatic landscape, big skies, and the open spaces. Our goal was to perserve the surrounding land as best we could-keeping our footprint smallish, and living off-the-grid. We love this land, we do what we can to save it, and the critters who inhabit it. Cee and I lived in Spirit Yurt the first 14 years at Flying Trees. When we moved into the house that we built, we kept Spirit Yurt so others could experience this place that we call home.
