In addition to five magnificent castles and gardens close by, the beautiful village of Castelnaud la Chapelle has everything we imagine you'll need on vacation, including a delicious boulangerie (Maison Carre), small shops, bike rental, canoeing and several lovely restaurants and cafes. If not, Sarlat is 14 km (9 miles) away and Saint-Cyprien is 16 km (10 miles) . The famous town of Sarlat boasts the highest number of listed medieval buildings in Europe. Both Sarlat and Saint-Cyprien have supermarkets, quaint little restaurants, cafes and shops as well as local markets where you can buy artisan handcrafts and local produce.
With the river Dordogne only a short stroll away from Cap d'El Pech you can swim, fish, canoe, have a picnic and enjoy beautiful walks or bicycle rides. Our favorite pastime is hot air ballooning - incredible views and great pics to share with friends!
Within driving distance, you’ll find the magnificent cliffs of Marqueyssac with its beautiful topiary gardens, the listed village of Vitrac, Château de Beynac, Château de Fayrac and La Roque Gageac, one of the most beautiful villages in France, as well as the historic bastide town of Domme with its cobbled streets, charming shops and exquisite restaurants.
The Dordogne is simply a wonderful place to be - a paradise of beautiful tree-clad landscapes and walnut groves peppered with medieval castles, ancient churches, bastide towns, and fascinating caves. Pretty Perigordine houses with their steep roofs and pigoniers will also charm you. Want more?
