Fiddlehead South is a special place that I was fortunate enough to stay at several times throughout the spring and summer. A lovely secluded cabin, the amenities and shelter are as described and the hosts are kind, thoughtful and responsive to their guests. They aided me and my companion several times throughout our stays, despite being busy themselves. The cabin sits at the base of a small ravine, on the edge of a riverside meadow, where it benefits from the shade on hot days and pleasant downriver breezes. Abundant native flora has been carefully selected/nurtured and wild blackberries and strawberries can easily be found, along with other tasty treats in the garden all summer, guests are welcome to forage😋. Naturalists will find abundant ecosystems at Mettawee and plenty of wildlife activity, day and night. The Mettawee River offers you activities, adventure, healing and Peace; serenity pervades all here. Enjoy and care for this special place and it will do the same for you~

This review is for Fiddlehead North, their sister cabin on the property. Several weeks before our stay, Jessica and Marvin reached out to let me know that they had long term tenants in Fiddlehead South and asked me to stay in Fiddlehead North. The location is stunning- so peaceful. The 5-10 min. hike to the site is steep and longer than I’d anticipated: pack light. We enjoyed the Adirondack chairs by the fire pit and wading in the river. Plan your trip based only off of the items they list in their listing. Reviews mentioned other items (like a fire grate) that might be at Fiddlehead South, but were not at North. Cooking was more difficult than anticipated. When we arrived Marvin told us that the cookware was fire safe but not grill safe. There is no grate for the fire- I asked about it and Marvin said I could use the grill grate, which was greasy and pretty small. Bring oven mitts for cooking in the fire and a French Press- the percolator was difficult to use.

we booked this cabin for 4 days 3 nights for our one year anniversary and brought our shiba inu, Yuna! this cabin was super dog friendly and the hosts were able to provide us with a very comfy dog bed for her to sleep on! she loves running around in the open grass field! it is our first time “camping” and it was an experience for sure. the place has no shower, no lights, and no electricity. My bf and I both had 1-2 bars of service there but since there is no wifi we downloaded our shows on netflix before we went on this trip! I would consider bringing a huge machine of a portable battery to charge all your devices depending on how many days you are there. The bbq propane grill worked perfectly well and we cooked skewers on it! the bunk beds were comfortable and the blankets were enough for when it got cool at night. the river was cool and fresh and super clean! we did some kayaking and swimming! would recommend if you are comfortable with the idea of camping 🏕️

Great spot! The site is is right by the river and very secluded. The host provides almost everything you need from paper towels, kayaks, to cooking utensils.

I wish I could give more than 5 stars. This was our second time staying and we are so very glad that we came back. What a perfect retreat from the city. Already looking forward to our next visit!
