^^^^ Venturing around the island ^^^^
Once you are here it is fairly simple to explore the island and surrounding areas. There are 4 buses that leave the bottom of our road. The times are at 7am, 9am, 12 pm and 2:30 pm. The buses return to the bottom of our road at different times throughout the afternoon giving you plenty of time to do different things.
Also, the beach is an easy walk from our lodge. plus we rent mountain bikes and can help organize scooter, motorcycle, atv and horses for you that will come to our lodge and you can start your adventure from here without any hassle.
!*!*!*!*!* Getting to our Property *!*!*!*!*!
1) You first need to make it to the port in San Jorge and take a ferry to either Moyogalpa or San Jose Del Sur
* We can help arrange taxi's for you off the island with safe, reliable and a good priced taxi at no extra charge. Just ask us before you arrive and we'll help you set it up.
2) Once you are on the island you can take a taxi that we can help arrange ( $25 from either port to our reception area ) . From Moyogalpa the ride takes just under 1 hr and from San Jose Del Sur it's about 40 minutes. You can call us or send us a message with your ferry time and someone will be waiting with a Finca Mystica sign when you arrive at the port. If you decide to get your own taxi do not pay more than $30 and make sure they bring you up to our lodge. If you are looking for a cheaper option, you might be able to find a collectivo shuttle in San Jorge or Moyogalpa, pay about $10 dollars a person, but it might make your journey time a lot longer.
****Renting a scooter, motorcycle, or an ATV ****
This is a wonderful option for cruising around the island if you have experience and a regular drivers license from home. We can have someone wait with your rental choice when you arrive off the ferry. We know some good companies who won't take advantage of you and that have good vehicles. Please be aware that if you fall you will need to pay for the damages and it might hurt too. Just let us know if you would like help with arranging the rentals. Be careful if you rent these on your own from the port town as some companies may try to take advantage of you in the case of an accident or lost paperwork. Carefully check out the condition of the vehicle before you rent and take pictures of any scratches.
*******Taking the local Bus *******
This is a good option if you have more time and feeling adventurous . It's much cheaper but takes a lot longer.
The best one is taking the Yellow Bus that leaves from Altagracia at 2 pm and drops you off at the bottom of our road around 3:30 pm ( just let the driver know your stop ). You can also take a bus that leaves Moyogalpa at 2:45 pm and passes out place around 5 pm.
*** Arriving in your own Vehicle ***
We really recommended using a high clearance vehicle. It gives you more freedom to explore all parts of the island. Many roads are rough and rocky ( including parts of our driveway ). A good amount of our guests do arrive in small cars but the going is slower and you have to use more caution. We have plenty of free parking at our place close to our reception area.
If you bring your own transportation to the island you should make a reservation at least a week in advance. Motorcycles do not need a reservation in advance. There's lot of ferry options but they tend to fill up quick with vehicles. We can help you reserve the ferry if you would like, but you will need to give us the type of vehicle ( SUV, truck, van or small car ), full name and the specific ferry you would like to take. Just search online for....Ometepe ferry schedule......You need to check in at the port about an hour before departure time. You pay just after the gates and costs about 500 C$ for your vehicle, 50 C$ per passenger ( kids 5 and under are free ) and 90 C$ for the port tax. San Jorge has a $1 USD non-resident fee to use the port
