Good location with several restaurants within walking distance. The room was clean and had a fan which helped with the heat. There were several power cuts, but this can happen anywhere on the island. Able to rent a scooter from the hostel at a reasonable price, which was useful to get around the island. The staff were friendly and helped us get comfortable with the scooter. They offer a laundry service, which charges per item. We found this rather expensive in comparison with the rest of Nicaragua. Unfortunately, the clothes were still damp and didn’t feel adequately cleaned. We actually redid our laundry at a different location. Note the road leading up to the hostel is quite treacherous for the novice scooter driver, but is fine to walk. When renting a motorbike, ensure the tank is filled to the brim before returning, or you will be charged.

STAY HERE! My best stay EVER! If you come to ometepe stay at this place! I have used airbnb in multiple countries for many years and this place topped the list, these are my reasons why: 1. Arlington is an outstanding host. He is very responsive, we rented scooters (motorcycles) from him, and he even helped us arrange a taxi WHILE HIS WIFE WAS IN THE HOSPITAL. 2. The staff are fantastic people and helped us in every way. We’d make chit chat about wanting to do something and they’d come back and say something like “we spoke to the place and they’re waiting for you with priority etc.” Just outstanding people. 3. The place is just gorgeous, it is really that cool. 4. The hotel has very cool fruit everywhere, you can eat it or just enjoy the nature. 5. The meals you can order are fantastic, the smoothies are so great. Stay here. It is very affordable, it is very peaceful, it is worth it. If I am back in ometepe I have no doubt I’ll be back at hotel porvenir.

Een mooi verblijf op Ometepe, zeer rustig en met mooie plekken om uit te rusten. Onze kamer was fijn. We hebben een goede scooter gehuurd voor een goede prijs. Een scooter is zeker aan te raden omdat het best afgelegen ligt. We werden niet heel hartelijk ontvangen, de vrouw die er werkt had er niet altijd veel zin in leek het. Ook een goede tip om niet je schoenen buiten te laten staan (de honden hebben een stuk van mijn schoenen gegeten in de nacht). Maar dit zijn kleine dingen; we hebben genoten van ons verblijf!

I stayed almost a week at Arlington's place. it's quite peaceful and near enough the lake and town if you have a moto. it would be a very long walk otherwise but the location is the best on the island in my opinion. Arlington helped me w the scooter rental and I really loved zipping around to the lake, restaurants, events etc... the driveway road can seem tough at first on a moto but it's doable and even fun. Arlington s staff were helpful and friendly. They helped me w everything I needed. I loved Ometepe Island so much and was glad to be right in the heart of the best beaches etc... I would always recommend a scooter or things will be far. The other thing is to hitchhike to others on scooters. Arlington's place has food, a stretching area, local coffee, precious dogs. you can easily cook and prepare food too. it's a lovely spot to enjoy this amazing island ( rent a scooter and take it slow). Thank you.

We had a nice time at El Porvenir. Arlington ist a great host. He provided us with everything we needed (Taxi, rental Scooter etc.) So garden area is so nice, you can see a lot of bird flying around, it’s so idyllic. From the breakfast terrace you have a beautiful view of the volcano! We would definitely come back!
