We visited Great Barrier/Aotea for the first time for a birthday and loved every minute of our trip. Carol’s house was the perfect place to base ourselves to explore the island and very conveniently located to local cafe and pub. The house is beautiful with lots of personal touches and Carol was a lovely host with great comms. The view from the deck is stunning and the back deck with hammock, outdoor shower and bath makes for a relaxing stay! Star gazing at night was spectacular! Highly recommend and can’t wait to return!

We had an amazing stay at this amazing Bach! The house is newly remodeled with great ventilation, everything is new and clean. You can easily walk to the beach, store cafe or Irish pub. Oh and the view! Looks out over Tryphena bay. Simply amazing.

I was initially nervous about staying somewhere that every other guest had rated with 5 stars as I tend to be quite picky! But all those 5 star ratings are entirely deserved. Carol and Rob are impeccable hosts - super friendly, helpful, responsive and generous. They welcomed us on site with a loaf of delicious home made bread and even gave us a bottle of champagne following some issues with the shower's hot water (all very promptly fixed). Rob also gave us some beautiful fresh snapper he'd caught and let us borrow their kayaks, as our eldest daughter had a broken foot and was pretty constrained in what she could do. Overall they went above and beyond and if they are not already official "super hosts" then they absolutely should be! The accommodation was conveniently located near a lovely beach and great amenities. It's beautifully decorated and was a pleasure to stay in. Not much storage so pack light - you don't need much on GB after all!
