San Blas is that corner of Panama that has 365 islands, a paradise island for every day of the year.
It is a small Eden of fine white sand, coconut trees and crystal clear turquoise waters. San Blas is the real version of that screensaver that we all have –or have ever had- on the computer.
How not to approach these islands that are only 3 hours from the Panamanian capital?

Currently it is the most used transport to travel to Kuna Yala (San Blas), we provide this service as long as you require it.
We pick you up at the door of your house or your hotel anywhere in Panama City. A 4X4 collective van, (SUV), at 05:30 a.m. After two and a half hours, the road goes up and down. The cost is $ 50 per person round trip.
At kilometer 19 before entering the Kuna Yala reserve, there is a checkpoint of the National Border Service, who will ask for your passport or identity document, at this point you will make the corresponding payment US $ 20.00 per person (foreigners ) and USD $ 5.00 per person (residents) and they will give you a receipt. The entrance to the region and each private car is USD $ 5.00. and when you arrive at the port you add $ 2.00 P / P (as contribution from the port) and $ 3.00 from the parking lot.
Upon arrival at the port that has parking, you will board a Kuna boat, the trip takes approximately 25 minutes and will take you to the catamaran. The price per person can vary between $ 30 to $ 40, depending on the boat, with round trip.
Very important: carry an original identity card or passport, without it you cannot enter the region.
* No pets. The Kuna Yala authorities do not allow pets to enter for health reasons.
* The border closes at 5:00 PM.
Instructions if you travel in your own car
Confirm with us which pier you should go to. In the Port of Cartí there are 3 piers and it is easy to confuse them.
From Panama City, take the South Corridor towards Tocumen Airport, but instead of leaving the airport, you should continue in the South Corridor until the end.
Followed at the end of Corredor Sur you will see the following towns: La 24 de Diciembre (+20 minutes), Pacora (+30 minutes), and finally Chepo (+20 minutes).

Within an hour of entering the road you will find a checkpoint by the National Border Service and Kuna Congress Authority. Here you must pay entrance taxes of USD $ 20 per person for foreigners and $ 5 for residents and Panamanians. Additionally, they will ask you for your passports or Panama ID.
The road is completely paved, the vehicles must be trucks or high SUVs (4X4 or 4X2) since the road is mountainous and requires a lot of traction to reach the Port of Carti. We can reserve a shared vehicle for you ($ 50 per person "round trip" and you will be picked up from the door of your hotel and dropped off at the door of your hotel or house on your return) and private to Cartí.
