Good place to stay, close to metro and 20 min walk to Shinjuku center
Great location! It’s a 5 minute walk to the nearest metro which is only 1 stop away from Shinjuku station. 7-11 is around the coroner and lots of restaurants nearby. Check in was easy and the hosts are very proactive. Great spot in this busy city. Highly recommended!

The pencil house is fun to stay at, well-equipped and easy to access. Our friendly ex-pat Australian host met us on site to explain the facilities and answer questions. Our host provided an informative welcome pack by email before we arrived. Easy, clean and great location.
We really liked Pencil House a lot. It had everything we needed, and was a great base for taking transit to see sights. There were grocery stores nearby, as well as Hatsudai station for getting on the subway. Due to jet lag, I was getting up at 3am, and it was nice to be able to make coffee in the kitchen and not wake up my family (they slept on the top floor). Tracey responded right away when I had any questions, which was nice. The washing machine, dishwasher, tub, etc all have buttons in Japanese, but they made a book with pictures of which buttons to press. The only minor issue was that since it's near a main road, there was a bit of traffic noise at night. Not anything unusual, and Japanese drivers are not big on honking like they are in Canada! We didn't mind it. This place is the reason we prefer Airbnbs. After sightseeing all morning, we would come back and relax, then go out again. So nice to have our own space. Thanks Tracey and Ash!
