Pamlico Cottage is truly relaxation at it’s best! Mary is an excellent host and was quick to respond to any questions. She has made sure that the cottage is well-equipped and you have everything that you could possibly need. We explored some of the nearby historic areas during our stay, but honestly we were at our happiest just spending time at the cottage. I loved falling asleep to the sound of rain on the tin roof or the water lapping at the shoreline. I loved waking up to the morning light coming through the vintage lace curtains. I slept like a rock, which almost never happens when I travel. The March weather was perfect, and we kept the windows down for most of our visit and enjoyed the breeze. We curled up in all of the comfy spaces that the cottage has to offer and we read books and played board games. The dock is a treasure all on its own! We could have spent all day out there watching dolphins and bald eagles, listening to the water and enjoying the breeze. We also definitely appreciated that the cottage is pet-friendly. Our chocolate lab (Bear) was living her best life! We were pleasantly surprised to see that there is an enclosed fence at the entrance to the cottage. If your dog is an escape artist I wouldn’t leave them out there unattended, but the fence was nice for when we just needed to let her out (supervised) for a moment at a time. The mosquitos are definitely active in this area, but Mary made sure to have plenty of bug repellent on hand at each of the doorways and we would spray ourselves down before going outside. I would recommend bringing some anti-itch cream along if, like me, you are especially sensitive/prone to bug bites. Overall, it was an awesome experience at a very special place and we can’t wait to come back!

The moment I stepped foot in the back door, I got tears in my eyes. The cottage was so warm and charming, and even better than the pictures online. Just the environment my husband and I needed to recharge and disconnect from the busyness of life! The water view was incredible and we enjoyed beautiful sunrises, sunsets and dolphin sightings. The bedding and linens were very clean, the cottage very tidy and there was not one thing we reached for during the weekend that we did not find at Pamlico Cottage. We cannot wait to return!

The cottage is exactly what we were looking for. it was on the water with a dock and had windows to allow you to see each sunset. You could not ask for a more responsive host than Mary. She responded to texts within minutes. She made sure we got in ok and had everything we needed. Thank you!
