What a hidden little gem we found in this resort and especially in the caretakers Chad and Abby! My 3 siblings and niece were there with my 92-year-old mom to celebrate her birthday and it was perfectly relaxing. At the last minute we had one extra person and it was too much for the cabin I had rented, and even though everything in the entire state of Minnesota was booked, Chad/Abby pulled a rabbit out of the hat with accommodations! I was expecting a vintage resort to be… More “vintage” but there’s been a lot of work done with a lot of new wood and updatIng. I typically expect cabins to have a lot of spiders and whatever… But I must say The cleanliness and attention to detail exceeded my expectations!! The cabins were cozy and quaint as advertised. Which was fine because we spent our days outside! absolutely loved the woodfired sauna !!! Everyone was super friendly and we had some great conversations out by the bonfire! We wanted a pontoon on mom‘s birthday and the resort one was already rented, Chad went out of his way to locate one at a nearby resort, even drove it over from the resort. and took us on a pontoon ride to deliver it back to the resort on Sunday morning! I mean… Who does that?! No problem was too big or too small for Chad /Abby to solve. Highly recommend finding an opportunity to stay here! We for sure will be back! PS- No matter where you go stay in northern Minnesota, be sure to bring plenty of bug spray… And also bug bite salve!!

Teresa and Peter were absolutely amazing. They were so accommodating to our wants and needs. The one thing that amazed me from the beginning from check in to check out was the CLEANLINESS of this place! We stayed in Birch cabin and you walk in to it smelling clean with products and a full box of clorox wipes for you to use if you wanted. Clean sheets, bedding and place was SPOTLESS! The shower adjacent to our cabin was in the best condition and extremely clean as well. We launch our boat and was so nice of Peter to help us back in with a tight space. The sauna was unfortunately closed due to covid, but our four days flew by with hiking trails and touring lake with the boat. Every morning Peter had an abundant supply for firewood for us to enjoy a bonfire after dinner.. I HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone looking for a complete getaway in the middle of nowhere!! It was nice to have wifi for school purposes and work! Stay here and book! You will not be disappointed

These cabins are in a great location on the north side of Black Bay on Lake Vermilion. We stayed at Birch cabin, which is one of the smaller ones but had just enough space for our family of four. The cabin was very clean and well-appointed. Kitchen was small but worked perfectly fine for us, the cabinets are stocked with just about anything you would need for cooking, there were paper products stocked in kitchen and bathroom, and everything in the cabin worked. Peter and Teresa were very helpful - Teresa gave us a better map of the lake than we had and Peter was very helpful with the pontoon we rented, even helping us get it docked on a windy day. We did not have perfect weather for our stay but we all had a very memorable vacation and would certainly recommend Vintage Vermilion for anyone looking for cabins in that area.
