We had two couples stay at this beautiful property for the 2024 Eclipse and we could not have been happier with the spot we chose. We walked around the property multiple times, enjoyed the streams, ponds, fish, frogs, and turtles on our walks. From the patio we enjoyed lunch and the eclipse, along with lots of beautiful hummingbirds, blue birds, sparrows, gold finches, and scissor-tailed flycatchers. We spent a good amount of time on the enclosed back porch watching the two bald eagles fish from the ponds. We even drove out to a waterfall hike at Little Missouri Falls that was in the guidebook, and it was really beautiful. The entire property was a dream and Karen and Loyd were great, kind, friendly hosts. We didn't have much cell service there, but I think it made the stay even more special.
Great place to stay if you’re there to ride the trails. The house is nice and quiet, the view from the patio is even better. We were lucky enough to see a couple of bald eagles feed at the ponds behind the house. Definitely plan on going back.
Great views from front and back porch . Clean as Could be. Very hospitable folks . Off grid for media , spotty cell service . Loved it !!

The owners, Ray & Karen Miller, have spent their entire lives in the Mena & Big Fork area. The cottage is located on their 200 plus acre cattle ranch in a very rural area of the beautiful Ouachita Mountains. They have been married for 45 years and have three children and eight grandchildren. They are both retired teachers and are now enjoying the quiet life on the ranch (no alarm clocks necessary). Ray loves to hunt and fish. He doesn't have to leave the ranch to do either. He taught 5th grade at Mena Public Schools and drove a school bus for 28 years. He enjoys the chance to do outside activities with the grandkids such as throwing rocks in the creek, fishing, roasting hot dogs, and riding on the ATV. Karen is a retired 2nd grade teacher. She loves spending time with her grandchildren. Karen is a great cook and enjoys teaching the grands how to bake cookies. She frequently takes them on ATV rides to check the cattle, and they all get excited when they discover a newly born calf. Ray & Karen look forward to welcoming you to their little piece of heaven.
