A wonderful stay. Beautiful setting. Incredibly helpful hosts, delicious cake and fresh flowers were a really nice touch. Perfect for a family as well.

A lovely large house with en-suite in two bedrooms. The view from these rooms is stunning. Unfortunately the mattresses were a little too soft for our liking. Sally very kindly left us a welcoming pack of a wonderful cake, sausages, eggs and bacon. All other accessories were available so it really felt homely. The garden was beautiful and we enjoyed watching the birds flying around. The kids loved the hammock and the adults the hot tub! The local pub is only 10 mins walk and served nice food. All in all a lovely stay.

We had a lovely week at Sally’s place in Devon. We were a group of 8 plus one toddler and there was sufficient space for everyone to stretch out and relax. Unfortunately it rained most of the week but the house was very cozy and comfortable so made up for it. The house is pretty remote but that is what we wanted and was a great base to take of on day trips around Devon and Cornwall to explore. Communicating with the hosts was easy and efficient and they responded quickly to any question we had. I would definitely recommend this place.

We just spent 5 nights in this beautiful home. Sally and James made us feel very welcome, were very responsive to any questions and left us a delicious home baked cake and fresh eggs as well as several other amenities. We were 3 families with young children. All bedrooms were spacious and the whole house was very clean. The kitchen/dining area was very social, with lots of space to share mealtimes and enjoy the patio onto the well kept garden. We hardly used the spare living room and dining room, but these would make great spots for dinner parties. Sally very kindly gave all of our 4-year-old girls a tour of their farm next door which they enjoyed very much. Sally and James are great hosts. They have thought of everything - kitchen-wise there is washing up liquid, a sponge, dish cloths, towels, dishwasher tablets, salt, pepper, ground coffee, sugar, oil, foil, cling film, sellotape, bin bags, pans and all the utensils you could want. We brought kitchen roll with us. In the bathrooms there is shampoo and conditioner, plenty of toilet paper and handsoap. Wifi and phone signal is good enough. Bovey Castle golf is highly recommended. Not cheap at £70 for non members, but a very well kept if not tricky course. Becky Falls was a very nice close by attraction (less than 2 miles) and we spent 5 hours there. Pennywell farm is also a great full day out for the family with lots to do for young children. We also went for lovely lunch at Home Farm Cafe which is a National Trust site which was approx 15 mins drive with options for walks along a river. Great for traditional scones and Devon clotted cream 😋. We also went for a day at Paignton beach which was 45 mins drive from the house. Great day out as the tide was out and the kids enjoyed building sandcastle and flying a kite. Plenty of amenities like shops and restaurants- of course the Paignton pier. We had lunch at Harbour Light which was recommended to us by a local we met at Home Farm Cafe and would recommend it to anyone- the view was amazing and the food was great too. We were told a small bar called Molly which is next to Harbour Light was also good but didn’t have time to pop in (maybe next time). We would highly recommend staying at Town Barton. Lovely house, brilliant location and great hosts! Would definitely come back for another stay! Great quiet spot for anyone who wants a peaceful retreat but an equally great base to explore Dartmoor from if you want to get out and about, as long as you don’t mind driving down some narrow roads. The house was the perfect layout and size for us and gave everyone in our family of six their own space when needed as well as having good communal areas for evening games. Well equipped for little ones too with the chance to meet some horses too. The garden was a highlight, brilliantly done with areas to eat and a hot tub to relax in! The hosts were always on hand if needed and even went the extra mile by unpacking our shopping delivery when we were stuck in traffic and arrived a lot later than expected. Welcome gifts and lots of little extra touches made our stay all the more special. Thank you!
